Survivor on OLN

Survivor News

Survivor will be on the Outdoor Life Network starting July 24. OLN has bought the syndication rights to the first ten seasons of Survivor and have an option for the next two seasons. This is the biggest syndication deal in OLN's history (however long that is).

OLN is planning on showing the episodes in chronological order starting with the first season. Episodes will air Monday thru Thursday at 7:00 pm with repeats at 10:00 pm and on the weekends (I guess those times are eastern times).

After the chronological airings are done, OLN is planning on broadcasting "best of" episodes. For example, a set of best twists and best villains (and who knows what else).

Outdoor Life Network is currently in 63 million homes and is owned by Comcast. Check your channel line-up you may already have it. I have regular non-digital Comcast cable and I get it.

Analysis

This should be a good deal for Outdoor Life Network and Survivor fans. The typical OLN viewer probably doesn't watch much regular TV like Survivor, however I think if they catch an episode or two of Survivor they will like it. The Survivor fan gets to watch shows which haven't aired in several years and in many cases aren't available on DVD.

I'll probably catch the repeats here and there, but the times conflict with Alton Brown on Food Network. (He's the host of Good Eats.) I would like to see Survivor Thailand and Survivor Africa again.

Which Survivor seasons are you most interested in seeing again?

About This Blog

I have followed Survivor since the beginning and this will be the third season that I've blogged about. I also blogged Survivor Vanuatu and Survivor Palau . I think my Survivor blogs have improved each time and Survivor Guatemala will be the best one yet!

Here's what you can expect from this blog:

A Preview of Each Episode
The day of each episode I post a preview talking about the week's rumors and gossip. I also include the official episode title and teaser.

A Re-cap of Each Episode
I take notes while watching Survivor and I post a pretty thorough summary about what happened along with my thoughts and observations. I also comment on the alliances and who I like and don't like.

Survivor Live, the Internet Talk Show
I watch the official CBS internet talk show and then post my notes and thoughts.

CBS Early Show
I got this covered too.

Anything Else That I Come Across
I'll also blog about any interesting Survivor tidbits that I find. For example, last season a radio station in Canada was interviewing the Survivors after being voted off. I listened online and posted my notes about a few of the more interesting interviews.

In conclusion, you can expect me to blog three or four days a week once the season starts. Until then I will post news as it becomes available.

Coming Soon!
I'm planning on a post about the history and culture of Guatemala. Look for it to appear within a week or so.

Help spread the word about this blog. More readers should mean more people leaving comments which will be more entertaining for all of us (my astute observations and clever insights only go so far).

So here are a few suggestions:

Leave Comments

Email People About This Blog
Don't spam or otherwise harass anyone, but if you have a friend, co-worker or family member who likes Survivor then you might want to send them a gentle email with a link to this blog. There is a handy link at the bottom of each post that allows you to do this (it looks like a white envelope with a black arrow in it).
