Survivor 12 Exile Island Up Soon

In case you missed it, the contestants for Survivor Exile Island have been announced and the official CBS web site is up and running. Survivor Panama Exile Island starts Thursday February 2, 2006 on CBS (official web site).

For my Survivor 12 Exile Island blog I'm working on a custom template (there aren't really any Blogger templates left that I haven't used yet and that I like). I hope to have it up and going by this Sunday or Monday night (Jan. 22 or 23).

Episode 14: the Final

The Final
official title: Thunder Storms and Sacrifice

Summary: Rafe wins the first Immunity and then Lydia is voted off. Danni wins the second Immunity challenge (an endurance competition) and selects Stephenie to be in the final two with her. The Jury awards Danni the one million dollars.

The recap to open the show summarized each of the previous 14 Survivors who were voted off. In confessional Lydia starts us off by saying 'Why am I still here? It must be destiny.' [I was thinking something similar except I thought that she was just lucky to be there.] They all toast being in the final four and in private Rafe says that he's happy to be in the final four with these people.

Tree mail arrives and Lydia takes it to mean a celebration. Stepehenie asks Do you see the word celebrate anywhere in there? 'No' answers Lydia and they all laugh. It turns out the celebration is a sacrifice . . .

Chicken Sacrifice
A local Maya family shows up and sacrifices a live chicken by beheading it and throwing it in a fire. Stephenie prods Lydia into asking them in Spanish (she's from Pureto Rico) if they can eat the chicken. Of course the answer is 'No' because it is a sacrifice. [No chicken for you. Next!]

First Immunity Challenge
Competition: a giant maze and puzzle challenge.

Jeff Probst calls this challenge the largest maze ever constructed for Survivor. It is a huge maze with ladders and pontoons to cross over water hazards. The Survivors have to go through the maze and collect puzzle pieces (7 sets of 2?). Each set has to be taken to the top of the mock pyramid before the next set can be collected. The puzzle makes a Maya image.

This was basically a race between Rafe and Stephenie. Danni was a little bit behind and Lydia was so far behind that she collected all of her pieces just as Rafe won Immunity.

The Forbidden Chicken Beckons
Lydia and Stephenie just cannot forget about that chicken so they go back and get it. Rafe doesn't feel right about eating a sacrificed chicken so passes on it, the only one to do so. And then a big thunder storm started, the largest since they have been out there according to Danni. They all wonder if they have angered the Maya god(s) by eating the chicken.

Scheming is Free
Stephenie and Rafe discuss who to vote off. They are leaning to voting off Danni since either of them is bound to win the next immunity up against Lydia. However if Lydia were to somehow win immunity and be in the final two then she is almost certain to win the million dollars. In private Rafe is torn by his promise to Danni to take her to the final three and Danni is uneasy about that promise herself.

So who will it be, Danni or Lydia . . .

Xhakum at First Tribal Council
Jury watches: Bobby Jon, Jaime, Gary, Judd, Cindy
(paraphrased, not word for word)

After some talk of the chicken and the storm, they finally get around to talking about the game.

Jeff Probst: Lydia suppose it's you tonight to be voted off . . .
Lydia: It could be but I'm not a physical threat to anyone. I have not won a single individual challenge.
Jeff Probst: Danni Lydia makes a good point . . .
Danni: Yes that's true but if she's in the final two she would most likely win the money.
Jeff Probst: Stephenie what do you base your vote on then?
Stephenie: (not sure) Lydia isn't a physical threat but she is a mental threat [please, not really] and Danni has never backstabbed anyone.

Lydia is voted off. (3-1 vote)

Jeff Probst's Final Thought
The three of you have one more Immunity Challenge and one more Tribal Council. Hopefully the Maya gods have forgiven you.

Lydia's Final Words
This was the hardest experience of my life . . . it was a wonderful experience . . . I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Aftermath
The three remaining Survivors return to a soaking wet camp. everything is wet, the corn is moldy and has maggots in it. To make matters worse the howler monkeys are especially noisy. [That will teach them to upset the Maya gods.]

Final Immunity Challenge
Competition: Balance and Endurance.

Each Survivor stands on a small platform that's on a pivot so it swivels. For the first hour they will have two ropes, one for each hand, to help balance themselves. Then they will have to let go of one rope. Thirty minutes after that the remaining rope must be let go. A Survivor is out when a foot touches the ground or a hand a post (which are holding up the ropes).

They all make it through releasing both of the ropes and are leaning on a pole with their feet on their platform. Rafe is the first out as he losses his concentration for an instant as he uses a hand to adjust himself slightly. Then later Stephenie starts to slowly slide down her pole until she touches the ground - and then starts to cry. So Danni wins the final Immunity!

Rafe immediately runs over to Danni and tells her that she should take whoever she feels is right to the final two regardless of promises she may have made earlier (to take Rafe to the final two). [ . . . and thus Rafe seals his fate . . . ]

Scheming is Free Redux
Danni says that she was set on taking Rafe until he said to consider Stephenie. Rafe says that Danni wouldn't be here without him, but he feels Stephenie deserves a chance at making the final two. Stephenie says to Danni 'You don't owe me anything.'

So who will it be, Danni says that it will be a game-time decision . . .

Jeff Probst: Stephenie any regrets about voting Lydia off last Tribal Council?
Stephenie: No, anything can happen.

Danni: I was so blown away!
Jeff Probst: Stephenie it was very emotional for you. . . .
Stephenie: I was in pain and felt like a failure.
Jeff Probst: Rafe what about releasing Danni from her promise to you?
Rafe: It's not strategy I want her to make the decision she feels good about.
Jeff Probst: Danni how will you make your decision?
Danni: well, Rafe is a good friend but he will probably win if I choose him. I would have a better chance with Stephenie.
Rafe: I'm not so sure I'm a sure thing to win, I screwed the same people as Stephenie.

Rafe is voted off.

Rafe's Final Words
I think I played a smart, honest, moral game . . . betrayed, I don't understand Danni . . . rooting for Stephenie . . .

Final Day at Camp
Stephenie and Danni compliment each other for reaching the final two. They visit the dock / swimming pool for the last time and break down the camp. In private Danni tells us that she will be nice at the Jury and answer all their questions [that's a good idea].

The Jury
You know the routine: opening statements, questions, closing remarks.

Danni: I'm honored to be here especially since going into the merge I had the numbers against me. [surprised how strong she was]

Stephenie: Thank you, this has been an amazing experience. I'm also honored and can't wait to talk with you.

Bobby Jon: Stephenie I'm on the Jury because of you. How proud are you?
Stephenie: Very proud, other than stabbing two people in the back.
Bobby Jon: Danni are you proud of your play?
Danni: Yes, I'm grateful to be here.

Gary: I'm basing my vote on your answer. Same question for the two of you: Why shouldn't I vote for you?
Stephenie: I broke a promise [to Gary I think].
Danni: I made a few conflicting alliances which is selfish.

Jaime: What an adventure! Danni if you had the numbers who would you like in the top five?
Danni: I'm not sure, probably Bobby Jon, Gary, Brandon . . .
Jaime: Stephenie how should the Jury feel about you changing your word?
Stephenie: I just went along with the group.

Lydia: [she seemed kind of angry towards both of them] Stephenie I was loyal to you since Day 6, what happened?
Stephenie: Thank you. I'm a competitive person, it was just the game.
Lydia: Danni you turned on me . . .
Danni: It was just part of the game.

Cindy: Same question for the two of you: If you could remove one member from the Jury who would it be?
Stephenie: I don't know . . . Bobby Jon because he was first on the Jury.
Danni: Rafe because he's definitely voting for Stephenie.

Rafe: You two are like sister to me. Danni why did you do the opposite of what you said you were going to do? [not taking Rafe to the final two]
Danni: It was a hard decision. You were both deserving of being in the final two.
Rafe: Stephenie what was your best move strategically that you didn't tell me about?
Stephenie: There wasn't one that I didn't tell you about.

Judd was the most entertaining. He started by asking Danni if she ever was ice skating before. She was kind of confused and said that she had been but doesn't do it very well. Judd then said that she just skated through Survivor Guatemala. He asked her if she lied in the game and she, of course, said 'yes' [how can you not lie?]. Judd then gave her a little speech about going to confessional when she gets home. Danni said that she asks for forgiveness everyday. [Judd amazingly still believes that he didn't lie in the game!]

Judd now turns to Stephenie and asks her if she's still starving. [It's a similar bait-and-switch line of questioning.] Judd goes on to say that Stephenie was always hungry yet she ate more than just about any of them out there. Then he talks about his wife and says that Stephenie broke a promise to her and lied, lied to his wife. How could she! Stephenie says that she never made that promise to her [that Judd and Stephenie would be in the final two].

Final Remarks
Stephenie: Thank you. This game is the hardest and it brings out the worst qualities in people, but we're not bad people. My strategy was to align myself with bright people and to stay calm at all times. I didn't let others make decisions for me.

Danni: After the merge I had six people targeting me. I saw Rafe and Stephenie as in charge and we became friends.

Time to Vote
Judd is shown voting for Danni and Rafe for Stephenie.

Jeff Probst then takes the votes and gets on a helicopter and flies to Los Angeles for the live reunion show where he reveals the votes: One vote for Stephenie and Four for Danni - that's enough.

Danni wins $1,000,000!

Reunion
There was then a nice reunion, everyone made nice with each other. Judd said that he lost 45 pounds [don't worry, I'm sure he can put the weight back on]. Jeff said that in two seasons Stephenie was in 46 challenges and won ten of them [but only one of them was individual immunity]. Margaret is going back to Guatemala to do relief work. At some point Jeff says 'Judd lets get this straight, you lied too.'

Survivor Panama, Exile Island
Jeff announced that the next Survivor will be in Panama. Sixteen Survivors will be divided into two tribes in a way never before seen on Survivor. Also a Survivor will be banished to an island on a regular basis. [I heard producers were tired of contestants taking it easy on challenges, so in some competitions the loser will be banished.]

That's about it. As usual, items from Survivor Guatemala are up for auction on eBay to raise money for the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Survivor Live: Danni and Stephenie

Survivor Live: Danni and Stephenie

Stephenie Comments
She didn't think that she had a real chance to get the most votes from the Jury. Their minds were probably already made up before the final Tribal Council. Playing previously probably had some sway with the voters. She feels that she may of had a chance if she was up against Judd or Jaime. She didn't try to keep Judd around longer because she felt he was trying to get rid of her. Stephenie feels playing on Palau taught her to remain calm, she was much more paranoid then.

Danni Comments
She was the first to say Judd has ADD not Margaret. Danni sent Lydia to talk with Judd to catch him in a lie so they could vote him off. [Was it really so hard to catch Judd in a lie?] Cindy blew it by keeping the car, Danni was working to get rid of her and that really helped. Danni would have given up the car (Stephenie wasn't sure what she would have done at that point). Danni isn't so sure she even had promised to take Rafe to the final three. [So Rafe would have likely been voted off anyway.] She knew from watching Survivor Palau that Bobby Jon was loyal to a fault and used that against him. Brandon is like a little brother and Danni had an alliance with him to be in the final two together. Not shown: Danni worked to get Blake voted off. Off topic: Danni thinks Priest Holmes will retire from the NFL.

What's Next for Stephenie
She has signed with an agent and will most likely be a spokesperson for a swim and sportswear company.

What's Next for Danni
She really likes Kansas City and wants to stay there. Before Survivor she had some offers to do TV anchor work and would like to pursue that some more. However she would like to keep doing radio because it's so much fun.

They also showed some video clips of the best Tribal Council exits in the history of Survivor (they didn't say how these were selected). It's in Part 3 of the Dec. 13 Survivor Live archive.

Red Carpet Interviews
The Survivor video archives has some interviews from the reunion show. They are several minutes each and those interviewed are: Danni, Stephenie, Rafe, Lydia, Jeff Probst, Brian, Judd, Gary and Bobby Jon.

I watched a few of them and they're worth the time if you like any of the Survivors. They are interviewed by Dalton and Jenna and they talk about the game (not the usual red carpet nonsense 'who are you wearing?').

On Being Voted Off
Rafe still maintains he was serious and sincere about letting Danni out of her promise to take him to the final two. He doesn't think she would have picked him even if he tried to hold her to her promise. Lydia said she thinks Rafe blew it by letting Danni off the hook so easily.

The Others
Rafe: Jaime and Judd are really great guys. Cindy would have stayed around longer if she had given the others cars (Lydia agrees). Would have voted to give the money to Lydia over just about everyone except for Stephenie. Thinks he would have beaten Danni if he were in the final two with her (Lydia not sure she would have voted for him). Stephenie thought she could beat Lydia at the Jury.

Lydia: a lot of people lied so much that they forgot they were lying. Judd and Jeff were similar and butted heads often. Lydia admits to being star struck with Bobby Jon and Stephenie.

This is it, the finale of Survivor Guatemala. I predict that Rafe will win the million dollars (for more about that see yesterday's post: Final Four and Winner Prediction ).

In other Survivor news, Jeff Probst has signed on for two more years of hosting duties. Survivor 12 is currently shooting in an undisclosed location and will air in the spring. I plan on blogging Survivor 12 as well ( survivor12.blogspot.com ).

Commentary, Predictions and Possible Spoilers
A CBS preview seems to show Rafe at the next Tribal Council wearing the Immunity necklace. I think Lydia will be voted off first, no one wants to sit in front of the jury with her. I'm predicting that Rafe wins but I want Danni to win. Stephenie may be in the final two because who would give her the money? She's on her second season of Survivor and she hasn't been that likable this time.

Survivor Fantasy League Picks
For what it is worth, here are my picks for Survivor Fantasy League.

Rafe, Climbs Ruins.
Danni, Climbs Ruins.
Lydia, Climbs Ruins.
Stephenie, Climbs Ruins.

What's up with the Fantasy League? Usually at the finale you select the finish order for Bonus Points but this time nothing, it's the normal bonus point selection? By the way, CBS has done a lousy job with the Fantasy League this season.

Final Four and Winner Prediction

Final Four

It seems CBS flubbed up a bit and showed a promo that shows the next Tribal Council and it appears that Rafe is wearing the Immunity necklace. So I think Lydia will be the next one voted off.

Now that leaves Rafe, Danni and Stephenie in the final three. I don't think Stephenie wins (she hasn't been real sympathetic this time and it is her second chance at a million dollars - two strikes and she's out) so that leaves Rafe or Danni the winner.

The possibilities:

if Rafe wins Immunity
He chooses Stephenie to be in the final two with and wins a million dollars. He's smart and realizes that she is his best choice and he's only promised Danni the final three.

if Danni wins Immunity
Her best choice is Stephenie, however she still may choose Rafe out of her dislike for Stephenie. After she's broken up the Axis of Evil she may feel that she can convince the Jury that she deserves it over Rafe.

if Stephenie wins Immunity
Her best choice would be Danni, however she may select Rafe out of friendship for him or dislike of Danni.

My Prediction

Rafe wins the million dollars!

Survivor Live: Cindy

On Being Voted Off
Cindy said again and again that just because you give someone a car doesn't mean you will win the million dollars, especially with this group who have turned on their own already. Sole Survivor Tina Weston called in and said that she would have given the others a car in exchange for a free pass at a single Tribal Council [now that's how you win a million dollars].

The Others
This group is real cutthroat. They did not like the jungle but Cindy reveled in it.

Rafe is a puppet master and using Stephenie as his messenger. Cindy did not want to leave Rafe and Stephenie together when she won Rewards that's why she picked one or the other to share with.

Cindy doesn't dislike Gary it's just that he started up with her by saying she did not belong in the game and lumping her in with Lydia. Cindy sort of got even by telling the others when Gary was plotting with Lydia. Also Cindy wasn't 'star struck' with Bobby Jon and Stephenie as Gary claimed they all were.

What's Next for Cindy
Going back to the zoo is out, they fired her for going on Survivor. [Assh*les, think of all the free publicity they're missing out on.] She would like to teach and educate people about nature and the environment. Cindy would like to stay in Florida if at all possible.

Notes:
1. Only 1 episode of Survivor Guatemala left: the final is this Sunday (Dec. 11), it will be a 2 hour final with 1 hour reunion.
2. Mon. Dec. 12 Survivor Live with 3rd and 4th place finishers.

News Flash: Probst Signs Contract

Survivor host Jeff Probst has signed a contract that will extend his hosting duties another 2 years. Prior to this Survivor 12 was his last under contract.

official title: Big Win, Big Decision. Big Mistake?

Reminder: the final is this Sunday (Dec. 11).

Summary: Cindy wins a car in the Reward challenge but is voted off at Tribal Council after just missing out on Immunity to Stephenie.

After the re-cap of last week's episode: they all talk about Judd's 'scumbags' and 'I hope you all get bit by a crocodile' comments. In confessional Danni says it looks like there's a break in the alliance (Axis of Evil). Cindy is worried because she sees a pattern: Judd wasn't told that Jaime would be voted off and then Judd himself was voted off. Now Cindy wasn't told that Judd was being voted off, so is she next? Tree mail brings a key, could it be a car key? Yes, it's car-time at Reward Challenge.

Reward Challenge
Competition: Second Chance
Reward: Car and night away from camp.

This challenge repeats parts of previous challenges in three stages.

First Stage, the balance beam - first three move on. The Survivors must make their way across a balance beam and untie things along the way. Cindy, Stephenie and Danni move on.

Second Stage, break tile with throwing club - first two move on. Cindy and Stephenie move on.

Final Stage, puzzle of Maya calendar and ride down hill in cart. Cindy wins Reward!

Jeff Probst now reminds Cindy of the Survivor Car Curse (no one who has won the car has gone on to finish in first). He gives her the option of forgoing the car herself and giving each of the others a car. As she is thinking about it four more cars drive up to the area. After careful consideration, Cindy decides to keep the car for herself. Jeff now says that she can chose one other person to share the night away from camp at a archeological camp with a bar-b-cue. Cindy chooses Stephenie to go with her.

At the Maya archeological camp Stephenie offers a toast to her and Cindy making the final four. They talk strategy and Cindy says she sees Danni as the biggest threat and Stephenie kind of agrees, but she says she will have to check with Rafe regarding voting Danni off. [And here I thought Rafe was Stephenie's pawn, maybe she's his puppet?]

Meanwhile back at camp . . .
Rafe in private says that if he had won Reward then he would of had to give up the car so the others could get one. He also says if she had given him a car then there is no way he would vote for her at tribal Council. Danni also says that she would not have taken the car for herself.

They're back . . . (Cindy and Stephenie)
In front of the others Cindy goes on and on about her new car: I've never had a new car before . . . it handles so nice . . . I hardly felt any bumps in the road . . . it's so nice, like a luxury car. The others are disinterested. In confessional Rafe says that Cindy was grating on everyone. In private Cindy says they all were excited to hear about her new car and they aren't bitter or going to hold it against her [oh, really?].

Stephenie and Rafe are disagreeing over Cindy's choice to keep the car. She says it's the first time they haven't seen eye-to-eye. Lydia chimes in and says that Cindy made the right decision.

Immunity Challenge
Competition: Ropes, Chains and Poles - oh, my!

Each Survivor is in handcuffs and leg irons and tied to a pole. They are also tied to a long rope which winds its way around several other poles. The Survivors must use a big key ring full of ten or so keys to unlock their chains and untangle their ropes at each succeeding pole. The if they have freed up enough rope they can run to their flag and release it to win.

Danni: Rafe said that he won't vote for me.
Rafe: Danni said that she wants to be in the final two with me. [That would be an interesting decision for the jury to make.]
Rafe and Stephenie talk about voting Cindy off and she says that she would feel bad since they already turned on Jaime and Judd. Stephenie goes to Cindy and tells her that Rafe sees her as a threat. Cindy says let's vote Rafe off and make it an all girl final four. [Just a little while ago wasn't Cindy saying Danni was the real threat?]

So it looks like Cindy or Rafe at Tribal Council . . .

Jeff Probst: Rafe what's the mood like in camp?
Rafe: I feel threatened. There are only guys on the jury and I'm the last guy left in camp.
Jeff Probst: So Danni do you give in to paranoia or stick to your plan?
Danni: I'm just glad to still be here.
Jeff Probst: Cindy I reminded you of the Car Curse and you still chose the car?
Cindy: Yes, there are no guarantees. I could have given them a car and still have been voted off.
Jeff Probst: Cindy who is the most competitive out here?
Cindy: Rafe, he's won challenges already and he's likable. He's the complete package.

Time to Vote:
Cindy is shown voting for Rafe and he her, however he says 'I love you though.' we don't see who Lydia voted for but she says she's voting with the tribe. Jeff shows the council one vote for Rafe and three for Cindy - that's enough.

Cindy is voted off.

Jeff Probst's Final Thought
You made the final four, there are 3 days left, 3 tribal councils and 2 immunity challenges to decide 1 winner.

Cindy's final words:
The thing that I'll miss the most is the sounds of the jungle, nature's orchestra . . . I didn't win the million dollars but the memories are priceless . . . [now that's a classy way to leave Survivor].

Alliances
Is Rafe serious about being in the final two with Danni? His and Danni's best chance for winning is with Stephenie. Lydia would win up against any of them. The three of them should get Lydia off next. She has not crossed anyone on the jury and is a sympathetic figure - single mother of modest means.

Heroes and Villains
Go Danni, go Danni! My preference to win is: Danni or Rafe. Stephenie should not have gotten this far and Lydia has just been carried along.

Commentary, Predictions and Possible Spoilers
It looks like Cindy wins the Reward challenge and has a choice: either she can have a car or chose to give up the car and let everyone else win a car! What will she do? Remember no one who has won a car has gone on to win the million dollars. It seems Danni wins Immunity (again just beating out Stephenie) and Cindy will be voted off at Tribal Council - remember she was out of the loop last week when Judd was voted off last week.

On Being Voted Off
Judd said he got blind-sided by the scum-bags and admits to being a sore loser. That walk from Tribal Council is the worst walk in your life. When Jeff announced that he was voted off Judd just went black and had to be reminded to get his torch. Judd said his bark is worse then his bite.

The Others
Judd never had plans to get rid of Stephenie, he thought they were pretty good friends. Lydia cooked for everyone. Jaime was the brains and Judd was the physical strength. He just didn't get along with Margaret, they had differing personalities - she was always bossing him around. Jeff Probst was just as miserable as the Survivors and Judd felt like Jeff was picking on him at times.

Drinking and Lying
Judd said that he was still drunk when he told the others that the Immunity Idol was on the ground and he doesn't remember seeing Gary following him out into the jungle to look for it [stupid alcohol]. He also mentioned being slightly drunk at a Tribal Council.

Strategy
Judd said his strategy going in was to be needed and wait for the right moment to make an alliance. He said that he was not in an alliance in the first original Nakum tribe and the mix-up of tribes was the best thing that happened to him in the game.

What's Next for Judd
He's still a doorman in Manhattan.

Notes:
1. Only 2 episodes of Survivor Guatemala left: this Thursday and Sunday Dec. 11 will be the 2 hour final with 1 hour reunion.

Episode 12: There Goes the Judd

There Goes the Judd
official title: Price for Immunity

Summary: the Reward challenge is an auction and family members show up. Danni wins an aid to help her win Immunity. Judd gets voted off at Tribal Council and acts like a big jerk as he leaves.

After the recap of last week's episode: Danni says she knows that she's on the chopping block. About last week's Tribal Council Danni says these people are unbelievable and that she's not going to go without a fight.

Reward Challenge
Competition: Survivor Auction.
Reward: Food and some mystery items.

Each Survivor is given $500 for the suction. They can share but only the people contributing money for an auction item can share the item.

The Auction Items
1. Beef Jerky - Danni wins for $20.
2. Milk and 3 chocolate chip cookies - Cindy wins for $40.
3. Mosquito net - Lydia wins for $140. (Lydia has mosquito bites all over her back).
4. Mystery Item, is a covered a tray - Danni and Rafe win it for $180 and share a 'Philadelphia' cheese-steak. I doubt it had any resemblance to a real Philadelphia cheese-steak, but I bet they still appreciated it. For the best cheese-steak go to Dalessandros .
5. Sealed envelop to help with Immunity Challenge - Danni wins for $200. The envelop is to remain sealed until the Immunity Challenge.

Family time! The last item for auction is a family member staying overnight. Stephenie gets Lydia's money and Judd gets Cindy's money. Judd comes up with the most money ($880) and wins! Kristina, his wife, gets to visit.

Jeff Probst now says that Judd can select two other family members to stay the night. Additionally those Survivors who don't have visitors will spend the night at the old camp. Judd selects Mindy, Cindy's twin sister, and Michael, Stephenie's boyfriend. So Lydia will not get to spend any time with her brother who she hasn't seen in two years. Rafe's mother will also go home. (Sorry I missed who was there for Danni.)

Family Camp
Kristen is impressed with their camp life, how they're able to make fire, boil water, etc. Mindy says this is great we (her and Cindy) used to play wilderness people as kids. [What, kind of like Land of the Lost?] Stephenie says this is great and that she owes Judd 'big time' since he also got her a big meal earlier. Judd says he didn't win any food at the auction but he's full just seeing his wife, she's like eating 25 White Castle hamburgers [how romantic].

Exile Camp
Rafe (pictured) says it's sort of like a homecoming seeing the old camp. The three of them basically agree that they cannot trust Judd. Rafe says that he feels closer to Danni than Judd. He also says that he thinks Judd feels threatened by him.

Reunited
Lydia asks Judd if he thinks he has a good shot at the million dollars and he says 'I don't know.' They talk about Jaime's surprise ouster and Judd says "I know who the mastermind was" (Stephenie). In confessional Danni says that the longer she can stick around the more trouble she can cause.

Immunity Challenge
Competition: Chessboard-like tile flipping game.

There is a big hexagon with tiles on it. Each Survivor starts on a side and in turn flips over a tile and stands on it. In following turns a tile adjacent to, but not diagonal to, the tile the Survivor can be turned over and stepped on. If there are no tiles that can be flipped then that Survivor is eliminated. As a wild card, in the center is a Lazy Susan with several tiles on it and it reached the Survivor can spin around to another tile. Also Danni's envelope (won at auction) allows here to switch with another Survivor any time she wants but it can only be used once.

Cindy (pictured) heads straight for the Lazy Susan, spins herself to another section and promptly boxes herself into a corner resulting in her being the first one eliminated. Danni then uses her option to switch with someone and chooses to change with Stephenie. It then comes down to Danni and Stephenie and Danni edges her out by about one tile to win Immunity.

Here's the order in which they were eliminated:
1. Cindy
2. Lydia
3. Rafe (Danni boxed him out).
4. Judd (incorrectly thought he could move diagonally).
5. Stephenie (just loses out by a tile or two).

Scheming is Free
Rafe and Danni (pictured) work on Stephenie to get her to vote for Judd. Stephenie says she can't trust him [what about owing him 'big time'?]. Judd helplessly looks on the three of them. Lydia tells everyone 'if you need my vote I'm here for you.' Judd says to her 'I need you to not vote for me.' In confessional Judd tells us 'if you think you're safe in this game you're crazy.' He goes on to say that they (Stephenie, Cindy, Rafe and himself) had an agreement if Danni got Immunity then Lydia would be voted off.

So who will it be at Tribal Council - Judd or Lydia?

Jeff Probst: Stephenie what was it like seeing your boyfriend?
Stephenie: It was really special.

Danni: I just couldn't let it pass at auction. I've only cried twice since I've been here, when I won spaghetti and when I won Immunity.
Jeff Probst: Cindy how do you vote now?
Cindy: It's based on the person, their alliance, my alliance and how I'll explain my vote to them at the Jury.
Jeff Probst: Rafe this is a big vote after tonight there's an odd number of people (five), what do you base your vote on?
Rafe: Trust is a big deal at this point.
Jeff Probst: Stephenie what do you base your vote on?
Stephenie: Making the right choice is hard, it's full of emotion. It's hard because we're all like family.
Jeff Probst: Judd, but someone in this family has to go . . . ?
Judd: Aww Jeff, they're all saying nice things but we all want someone to go. It's the only way we can win the million dollars.

Time to Vote:
Danni is shown voting for Judd and he is shown voting for Lydia. Jeff reveals the votes to the Survivors: two votes for Lydia and four votes for Judd. Judd is voted off!

Judd leaves showing no class. He says 'I hope you all get bit by a crocodile' and mutters 'scumbags' several times.

Jeff Probst's Final Thought
One thing is clear, things are no longer what they used to be. The game has taken a turn in a big way.

Judd's final words:
I'm really pissed off . . . I was lied to . . . it sucks being lied to . . . I never lied . . . they voted me off because I was the biggest target . . . I can't wait to the jury . . .

Alliances
Well, well, well . . . the Axis of Evil is no more. Stephenie better watch herself, she may be next - unless someone is planning on being in the final two with her.

Heroes and Villains
Go Danni, go Danni! Before this edition of Survivor I thought that I'd like Judd, he seemed like he was an Everyman. It turns out that I don't really like him at all, he's a big jerk.

The web is quiet as I write this, almost too quiet. This is a pivotal episode. Will Stephenie, Judd, Rafe and Cindy stick together and vote off Danni and Lydia to reach the final four or will Danni and Lydia be able to swing Rafe and Cindy to their side?

Well, that's how I see things. If I find out any more info. I'll include it in my update tomorrow afternoon.

Episode 11: Gary Sacked

Summary: Cindy wins Reward and shares it with Rafe. Rafe wins Immunity for the second time in a row. At Tribal Council there is more discussion about lying. One minute Judd says that he most emphatically has not lied yet and then a few minutes later says "OK, I lied." Gary is voted off and has his torch extinguished.

After the recap of last week's episode: at night following last week's Tribal Council Judd is feeling insecure and uncomfortable that the others didn't tell him that Jaime was going to be voted off. Stephenie and Rafe try to reassure him saying that they didn't want him to freak out about the decision to vote Jaime off last week [or plot with him to vote someone else off]. Lydia tells us that she's not sure that she did the right thing in voting for Jaime. Rafe says Judd has changed [no duh! what did he think would happen?]. The next morning Judd caught Gary pumping Lydia for information and told the others in his pod (Stephenie, Rafe and Cindy).

Reward Challenge
Competition: Maya Culture Quiz
Reward: a day trip to a waterfall with food and a massage

Each Survivor has three pots filled with corn with their name on them. Each correct answer earns a Survivor the chance to break a pot of one of the other Survivors. The last one with an unbroken pot wins reward.

The Questions
1. Maya heiroglyfics are called? Stella (sp?). Only Stephenie gets it wrong.
2. T/F In Maya courtball the losers lose their heads and they are used as balls in future games. True, Stephenie is the only one wrong again.
3. Maya gods from coffee, cocoa, corn or ramone (sp?) nuts? Corn.
4. Which country doesn't border Guatemala? Belize, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador. Answer: Costa Rica.
5. T/F [something about temples, I'll try to watch again online and update this post]
6. T/F There are 30 volcanoes in Guatemala. True. Only Cindy and Rafe left at this point. Cindy got it correct.
7. T/F Crocodiles are most active at dawn. False, they are most active at dusk.

Cindy wins Reward and chooses Rafe to go to the waterfall with her.

The Order They Were Knocked Out
1. Stephenie, Lydia broke 2, Danni 1.

The Waterfall
The water in the waterfall is hot and the pool is crystal clear and cool. Cindy says it is a very cool reward and nice to share with Rafe. Rafe says it was the best day ever. They have some nice food: shrimp and beef kabobs. Rafe says Lydia is easily swayed and that he's in with Cindy for better or for worse.

Meanwhile back at camp . . .
Stephenie is all defensive about going out first. Lydia says she targeted Stephenie because she was afraid she would eat again and Lydia hasn't eaten yet. Stephenie then gives a rundown of who has eaten and says that she hasn't eaten anymore than most of the others [although Lydia hasn't eaten at all]. In private Gary tells us he doesn't think Stephenie has lost any weight so far [they're on about Day 28]. Judd delivers the title of the episode - "Everything is personal." When Rafe and Cindy return to camp he tries to downplay the food and Cindy says it was relaxing. The segment ends with Lydia in confessional saying that everyone puts Stephenie up on a pedestal but she's a threat and no one is doing anything about it. She also says she's an outcast like Cindy so she should have been chosen for Reward instead of Rafe.

Stephenie, Rafe, Cindy and Judd are talking and reassuring each other that they are the final four. [Maybe Cindy is not an outcast like Lydia thinks?]

In confessional Danni tells us that there are obviously three outcasts now [presumedly she means her, Gary and Lydia].

Immunity Challenge
Competition: Puzzle Race with Maya folklore story background.

Jeff Probst tells the Survivors a Maya folklore story about the Sun and the Moon. The Survivors are then to go around to seven stations where they have to assemble a puzzle that reveals a question about the story. Two boxes have an answer printed on them (one wrong and one correct). If the correct box is picked it will have a flag in it which the Survivor must take to his/her flag pole and then move on to another station. (A wrong-box answer has a stick in it and it must be taken to a fire before moving on to another station.) The first Survivor to collect all seven of his/her flags wins Immunity.

Lydia is first with a flag. Stephenie and Judd miss at their first attempt. Then Rafe and Gary take the lead with two flags. At four flags Gary and Cindy lead. Gary and Rafe are neck and neck through flags five and six. It comes down to a race back to the flag poles between Rafe and Gary.

Rafe just beats Gary out to win Immunity (again).

Scheming is Free
Stephenie says that it's nice to be powerful this time because she was essentially powerless last time. Lydia feels betrayed. Gary thinks Cindy doesn't like him [probably true]. Gary talks with Rafe and Rafe says that he doesn't trust Stephenie 100% and doesn't trust Judd [does this mean he's planning on being in the final two with Cindy?]. Judd says that Gary is running around like a lunatic trying to stay.

Going into Tribal Council it looks like it is finally Gary's turn, but you never know . . .

Jeff Probst: Lydia there was some hostility about the Reward challenge?
Lydia: I was just afraid Stephenie would win again and I wouldn't eat . . it was nothing personal . . . Stephenie is really running things.
Jeff Probst: Stephenie are you the power broker and in charge?
Stephenie: I definitely do not run the show.
Jeff Probst: Gary what's your take?
Gary: I like Stephenie, I think some of the others are star-struck [this elicits some laughs, but I think Gary was serious.]
Jeff Probst: Judd how have you played?
Judd: I definitely have not lied yet but I think I may have to to win. So I'm in trouble because I'm a bad liar.

Judd goes on to say how Gary has lied: about how Gary said he wanted only the strong to win yet talked and planned with Lydia and Cindy. Gary defends himself by saying it was part of the game, he had no real alliance with them. Gary then goes on to tell about Judd's lie about the Immunity Idol [Judd said it was on the ground when it was really up in a tree].

Judd admits that he lied, "I told you that I was a bad liar."

Time to Vote:
As Judd votes for Gary he says "get the hell out of here."
Jeff Probst show the Survivors one vote for Cindy but Gary gets four votes so his torch is extinguished.

Jeff Probst's Final Thought
One thing is clear, no one is going down without a fight . . . there should be big battles ahead.

Gary's final words:
I had a great time . . . it was fun competing . . . my real name is Hogeboom . . . I lied [about his name] so I would be treated as myself [and not as a former NFL quarterback] . . .

Alliances
Is this the final four: Stephenie, Judd, Cindy and Rafe? It looks that way. Danni looks like the next to go unless she wins Immunity.

Heroes and Villains
Here's how I rank the remaining Survivors (from most to least favorite): Danni, Cindy, Rafe, Judd, Stephenie, and Lydia. Lydia has just cruised through and seems to be clueless about the game, she doesn't deserve to win. Stephenie shouldn't have gotten this far but as Jaime said maybe someone is looking to be in the final two with her.

Tribal Council is full of surprises when one Survivor takes advantage of the group setting to call out a tribemate. How will this influence the vote?

The web seems to think that the most likely to be voted off are Lydia and Judd. I would also add Cindy since Jaime said the four of them were in an alliance. For my Fantasy team I'm going with Stephenie, Rafe, Gary and Danni (all to Climb Ruins). By the way, the Survivor Slackers have fallen to third place in the Private Tribes Leaderboard.

On Being Paranoid
Jaime says he wasn't as paranoid as he was portrayed. He was that way mostly with Rafe because he didn't think he could trust him.

The Others
Jaime said that he was in a final four alliance with Judd, Lydia and Cindy. Furthermore they were going to vote off Stephenie next. [Maybe Stephenie is better at this game than I thought.] Jaime never trusted Stephenie and he was tired of seeing her face around camp. Rafe is just her lap dog. Jaime said he and Judd were close friends but he wouldn't have minded being in the final two with Stephenie, after-all what jury would give some one who's playing Survivor for the second time the million dollars? Lydia and Jaime were close, he called her his warning light but she didn't go off. Jaime thinks Gary had the Immunity Idol for a few days before the Tribal Council in which he used it. Jaime appears to have made up with Bobby Jon; he said 'I like him, he's a good ol' boy.'

What's Next for Jaime
He's not sure. He's been modeling in Miami but he's not sure if he wants to continue doing it. He would like to expand away from water ski instruction to snow board instruction. He's not really interested in pursuing an acting career.

Episode 10: Jaime's Turn

Summary: Half of the Survivors win a luxury night away from camp while the rest have to deal with Jaime's paranoia some more. Rafe wins Immunity and it looks like it will be either Gary or Jaime who will be voted off at Tribal Council. To Judd's surprise, Jaime is voted off.

After the recap of last week's episode, at night after last week's Tribal Council Jaime's paranoia is getting on the others' nerves. Jaime tries to stir Cindy up against Gary (it didn't work), he accuses Gary of lying (everyone backs up Gary).

Reward Challenge
Competition: Race through mud and obstacles.
Reward: Helicopter ride to a night of luxury.

This is a relay race through mud and over or under obstacles with the object being to fill up a large container with corn. The Survivors are divided into two teams and will be tied to another on their team.

The teams:
Jaime-Rafe and Cindy-Lydia
versus
Gary-Judd and Stephenie-Danni

Jaime-Rafe got an early lead but Gary-Judd and Stephenie-Danni ultimately won Reward.

Stephenie is happy, she says the this is the best possible group of four she could be with. They enjoy the usual good food and drink. Gary makes his pitch: this game should be the best of the best (strength, *grunt, grunt*). He doesn't want a weakling to slip by and win this. He mentions Lydia and Cindy - if anyone is in the final two with either of them, who do you think will win? They also get a special treat: videos from home.

Meanwhile back at camp, Jaime is being paranoid with poor Rafe again. Jaime wants a promise from Rafe to be in the final 3 with them and Judd. Rafe says he can't promise that just yet, - yada yada yada - yes, the final 6 is definite. Rafe in private tells us that he's is real tired of dealing with Jaime and he's done trying to figure out his strategy.

When the Reward winners get back Judd tells us the only one he was worried about was Jaime. Judd tries to reassure the paranoid one.

Immunity Challenge
Competition: Rope Race

Each Survivor is attached to a rope at the waist. The rope is very long and it twisted around obstacles. The Survivors have to work their way through it and the first four move on to stage two.

Rafe, Jaime, Stephenie and Cindy move on to stage two. Gary lead most of the way but Cindy just beat him for the fourth spot.

The second stage had some height to it. Cindy was close to winning Immunitty but Rafe just beat her.

Scheming is Free
Rafe says that this is his third win or so (plus several second place finishes) and he's afraid he may be making himself a target. Gary said he gave it his best shot, but seems resigned to his fate. Judd says it's Gary tonight, but Jaime isn't really sure. Jaime works Rafe over a game of mancala. In confessional Rafe says he's told Jaime like seven times today not to worry or be nervous.

Lydia, Stephenie and Rafe are talking about voting off Jaime. Stephenie says that it all comes down to Lydia, Jaime will go if she wants him to. Lydia says she's been with Jaime since the beginning so it would be hard to vote for him.

So it looks like it will be either Gary or Jaime, who will be voted off . . .

Jeff Probst: Stephenie how was the Reward?
Stephenie: It was great, a nice bonding moment.
Jeff Probst: And you Danni?
Danni: I agree, it was nice to get to know some of the others.
Jeff Probst: Judd what do you think of Gary?
Judd: Gary is an amazing person, he's a man's man.
Jeff Probst: Would you have trouble voting for him?
Judd: It would be hard to vote for him , but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Jeff Probst: Jaime is there anyone left that you wouldn't miss?
Jaime: No, everyone is super.
Jeff Probst: Gary how's the game mentally?
Gary: I just try and maintain a positive attitude and take each day as it comes.

Time to Vote:
The Survivors are shown two votes for Gary but Jaime gets five votes. So Jaime is voted off! Judd has a look on his face like "Oh, my God!" (he was shown voting for Gary.)
Jaime stands up and yells "Blind-sided, now that's how you vote someone out!"

Jeff Probst's Final Thought
Jaime just gave you the best advice, information and whether you choose to share it or not is crucial in this game.

Jaime's final words:
It hurts to leave and have Lydia vote against me . . . she didn't even warn me . . . it's hard to see good people go bad, but that's the game . . .

Alliances
Why wasn't Judd in on voting Jaime off? Does this mean Judd is next? Maybe Stephenie isn't as close to him as she's said.

Heroes and Villains
I'm glad Jaime is gone. I'm still rooting for Danni but she's got a long, hard road ahead of her if she's going to win this thing.

Fantasy Picks and Commentary

Survivor Fantasy League Picks
If the Axis of Evil (aka Magical 6) votes off Jaime as many people are predicting then I think it will be a mistake for them - so I hope they do it.

Why do I think it would be a mistake? After this Tribal Council they will be down to 7 Survivors which means 4 votes are needed for voting someone off. Gary and Danni can then go to Cindy and Lydia, who are at the bottom of the Axis of Evil, and guarantee them a spot in the final four.

Of course Jaime's paranoia may be jeopardizing the Axis of Evil who feel they have no choice but to vote him off. However a better way of handling it for them would be for Stephenie, Rafe and Judd to go to Jaime and say to him "I understand you're worried at the moment, we want to be in the final 4 with you. You pick the next person to go: Cindy, Lydia, Gary or Danni." I think something like this would reduce his paranoia.

For what is worth, here are my picks for Survivor Fantasy League.

Commentary, Predictions and Possible Spoilers
Signs seems to indicate that Jaime is the next one to be voted off. The title hints that Gary and Danni have a decent episode. The Reward challenge looks like a muddy obstacle course with the Rerward being a helicopter ride to a night of luxury (possible sleep away Bonus Points in Survivor Fantasy?). Speculation is that Judd and Lydia don't do well in the Reward challenge. The Immunity challenge involves ropes and spinning (again).

On Being Voted Off
He really didn't see it coming [how many have said that?]. Gary pulled the old quarterback sneak on him.

The Others
Gary - respects him for persevering and finding the Immunity Idol. Jaime - believes he was sincere in giving up food at the Reward challenge, it will play on people on the jury; they've made up and moved on. Judd - he was kind of surprised he picked him for dinner, they never really talked about the game much. Blake - didn't want to lie to him, but it's part of the game. Stephenie - in control. Margaret - if not for her he would have gone into a seizure when dehydrated. Jeff Probst - people think they can handle him but they're usually wrong.

The Challenges
Reward challenges are almost always a no-win situation. His favorite was the Wagon race challenge (where he smoked Jaime).

Rob's Comments
He really appreciates Judd and likened him to Tony Soprano. Enough of Stephenie already, it seems she's running things but then complains all the time.

What's Next for Bobby Jon
He's still in Los Angeles working on a career, but he may move back to Alabama.

Episode 9: Bobby Jon Makes the Jury

Bobby Jon Makes the Jury

Summary: Judd wins Reward although everyone gets something to eat (Judd also won a clue to the location of the hidden immunity idol). Jaime won Immunity and the plan was to vote Gary off, however he found the hidden Immunity Idol so Bobby Jon was voted off instead; he is the first member of the Jury.

After the recap of last week's episode, the night after last week's Tribal Council they all get on Jaime about the "no class" topic. Judd tells us that other than the food camp life is great. Stephenie and Judd are talking and she says that they have the numbers they just have to stick together. Bobby Jon in confessional says that he really needs the Immunity Idol like right now; there's no breaking the "Magical 6" [also known as the Axis of Evil].

Reward Challenge
Competition: Giant lawn dart game with arrows.
Reward: Food for everyone and winner get a clue to where the Immunity Idol is hidden.

Each Survivor got one chance to throw an arrow (using a Maya throwing stick - atlata (sp?) at a target on the ground some distance away. The closer to the target, the better food the Survivor won.

Judd went first and got real close. No one was able to get closer so he won the best food - lobster and steak. Jaime went last and earned fourth place. He then said that he would like to eat last since his outburst at Tribal Council. Of course Jeff Probst allowed it so everyone but the top three moved up in the food eating order.

Here's the eating order:
Judd (surf/turf), Cindy (chicken), Danni (spaghetti), Stephenie (hamburger), Gary (slice pizza), Rafe (ham cheese sandwich), Bobby Jon (baked potato), Lydia (fish), Jaime (ramone nuts).

Jeff Probst then told Judd (pictured) he could select two of the others to join him at his table to share their food and join in on the open bar and dessert menu. Judd chose Bobby Jon and Stephenie. As Bobby Jon says in private, Gary looks anguished as they enjoy their food and beer. Gary says the right thing - I'm enjoying watching you have a good time - but in private tells us it was hard to do.

Judd stumbles back to camp with the rest of them (overnight he vomits). The next day he shares the clue with Stephenie - the Immunity Idol is in the open and above the ground. However Judd then tells the others that it is at ground level (the liar!).

Jaime (pictured) works Rafe and then Rafe tells us that Jaime is paranoid and he doesn't trust him. Stephenie also says that Jaime is paranoid and that he could ruin their entire plan. Gary tells Jaime he will vote however the 6 do - he doesn't have much choice.

Immunity Challenge
Competition: 3 stage obstacle course that tests balance.

Round 1: Untie 2 boards as they cross a balance beam. First four across move on.
Stephenie (despite falling once), Gary, Jaime, Rafe all move on.

Round 2: Use the 2 boards on 2 parallel horizontal ropes to cross a span. First two across move on.
Rafe and Jaime move on. Gary the former pro athlete falls twice.

Round 3: Cross a span using two ropes - one for the feet and one for the hands. First one across wins Immunity.
Jaime wins Immunity as Rafe falls off into the water. [I can't believe Rafe got this far considering how badly he did on the web-rope competition earlier.]

Scheming is Free
Stephenie (pictured) tells us that the plan is for Gary to be voted off because he is a physical threat and always in game mode. She said she would consider Jaime but he won Immunity. Gary talks with Stephenie ("look me in the eye") and she tells him that Bobby Jon is the target (she's lying too!). Bobby Jon talks with Judd and Jaime and tells them that Stephenie is ruthless and will lie. They tell him they know that already and to relax - he's not going home at Tribal Council.

Gary secretly follows Judd out into the jungle and notices him looking up. Gary, being no dummy, figures out that Judd was lying when he said the Immunity Idol was on the ground. Later we see Gary return to camp and it looks like he is holding and hiding something.

Jeff Probst: Danni do you trust these people?
Danni: It's scarry and a numbers game; you can't really trust anyone.
Jeff Probst: Do you agree Rafe?
Rafe: Yes, paranoia is setting in.
Jeff Probst: Gary how does lying figure into the game?
Gary: Everyone is different, up to themselves whether to lie or not.
Jeff Probst: Have you lied?
Gary: No I have not lied. [that's a lie]
Jeff Probst: Judd how about you, have you lied?
Judd: No, not up to this point, I have not lied. [they're all a bunch of liars]
Jeff Probst: Cindy do you trust anyone?
Cindy: I trust them more than I thought I would. In this game it's hard not to lie. I'm sure we'll all be liars by the time the game is over.

Jeff Probst: before you vote, Jaime would you like to give the Immunity necklace to anyone?
Jaime: No sir, I think I'll keep it.
Jeff Probst: Now if anyone has found the Immunity Idol and would like to use it now is the time to reveal it.
Gary turns it in!
Jeff Probst: Time to vote. You cannot vote for Jaime or Gary.

Stephenie gets 2 votes, Cindy gets a vote, but Bobby Jon gets 5 votes and is the first member of the Jury.

Jeff Probst's Final Thought
It's clear from this Tribal Council that the next phase of the game will center around lying. Just remember you'll be lying to the Jury.

Bobby Jon's final words:
I was really surprised at Tribal Council . . . I really wanted to win, but everything happens for a reason . . . it was an amazing adventure.

Alliances
The best chance of breaking up the Axis of Evil is if Danni makes it to the final seven. So, sorry Gary you have to go next. Danni has the best chance of getting the weaker players and outcasts within the Axis of Evil of turning on Stephenie, Judd and Jaime.

Heroes and Villains
Way to find that Immunity Idol Gary - I had you on my Fantasy team. Jaime wasn't as evil this episode and Stephenie was a little more likable too. Judd was obnoxious again. I'd hope none of those three win. I'd really like Danni (pictured) to win but the odds are really against her.

Speculation is that the Reward Challenge will be a balance competition and Immunity Challenge will involve throwing. Bobby Jon is most likely to be voted off and Gary wins Immunity. Some people are also speculating that Gary finds the hidden Immunity Idol. Judd is thought to win the Reward Challenge (in a balance contest?). If you hadn't guessed, Judd is believed to be the one that gets drunk (again). Jaime and Danni have also been mentioned as being voted off.

Sunday Final for Guatemala
CBS has announced that Survivor Guatemala's final episode will air Sunday December 11. It will be the traditional two hour final followed by an hour reunion show. This is the sixth straight Survivor to end on a Sunday rather than its normal Thursday evening time slot.

Survivor on On Demand
Starting in January CBS will offer several prime-time shows, including Survivor and Amazing Race, for viewing on Comcast's ON DEMAND service for 99 cents an episode.

On Being Voted Off
Brandon didn't really try and work anyone to stay, that's just not him [did he know about Survivor before he played]. He's not one to be a "snake" and ask people to stay. He was just focused on winning immunity. Anyway Judd and Cindy wouldn't budge and change their votes.

Jaime
"I respect Jaime," Brandon. Jaime is the victim of some bad editing. It looked like he was rubbing it in (that Brandon was going to be voted off) but he really was just leveling with Brandon. However Brandon did say that Jaime isn't a quick thinker and his mouth often gets him in trouble.

The Others
Stephenie runs the show, but she whines a bit. There were a lot more incredible women out there like Danni, Amy and Margaret. Danni was like a sister. Jaime offered to try and get her vote off but Brandon didn't want him to. Brandon was stunned at the Judd-Margaret blow-up at Tribal Council, he didn't know that stuff was going on. Judd wasn't eating much maybe that had an affect on his actions.

Axis of Evil Pecking Order
The way Brandon sees it, this is the hierarchy:
1. Stephenie (she's really running things), 2. Judd (he really gets along well with Stephenie), 3. Rafe, 4. Jaime, 5. Lydia, 6. Cindy.

What's Next for Brandon
He's just working on the family farm. He would like to travel some more. This was the first time he was on a plane and out of the country.

Episode 8: Brandon Goes Home

official title: The Hidden Immunity Doll

Summary: There is no Reward Challenge as the Survivors create a new name (Xhakum) and a new flag for the newly merged tribe. Tree mail also tells them of a hidden immunity doll. The Immunity Challenge has a Merge Feast twist. Gary prevails and wins Immunity. At Tribal Council Jaime gets four votes but ultimately Brandon is voted off.

After the recap of last week's episode, we join in as Yaxha leave Tribal Council and go to Nakum's camp for the merge. Gary, Danni, Bobby Jon and Brandon all agree to be as nice as they can. Bobby Jon tell us in private that he can't stand Jaime and Stephenie. At Nakum's camp Bobby Jon starts a fire and Jaime starts laying into him. The next day Danni tells us that they do not feel welcomed, that they feel like outsiders. Stephenie tells us that Bobby Jon came to her and asked that she help him to make the jury. She tells us that she will do what she can.

Reward Challenge
Competition: none
Reward: none

They are given a banner and paints and told to come up with a new tribe name and banner. The new name they chose is Xhakum, an amalgam of Yaxha and Nakum.

Hidden Immunity Doll
Tree mail also tells them of a immunity doll hidden somewhere in the jungle. Whoever finds it can use it whenever they want before the final four. It must be presented at Tribal Council before voting starts. This is addition to the regular Immunity Challenges.

The four former Yaxha members - Gary, Danni, Bobby Jon and Brandon - all decide to go fishing. Those left behind cannot believe it and they openly discuss the boot order. Stephenie says it aloud: Brandon, Bobby Jon, Gary then Danni. In confessional Jaime says they have got to protect their investment of blood and sweat. Rafe in private asks rhetorically "Am I a member of an Axis of Evil?"

Immunity Challenge
Competition: Pot Head with Merge Feast Twist

Each Survivor has a choice: either eat at the merge feast table and miss out on Immunity or compete for Immunity and miss eating. The competition would be standing still for an hour with a pot on their head. If necessary, after an hour there would be a tie breaker.

The Eaters: Rafe, Stephenie, Lydia, Jaime
The Competitors: Gary, Brandon, Bobby Jon, Danni, Judd, Cindy

During the competition Jaime and Bobby Jon argued. Basically Jaime was acting like an ass by rubbing it in that they (former Nakum) were all safe and didn't have to compete for Immunity. To his credit Judd didn't say anything and had a look on his face like ' Jaime, would you just shut up.' Rafe is almost at tears and Stephenie tells him it will be ok.

After an hour only Danni is out so there will be a tiebreaker. The remaining Survivors must run up the steps of a pyramid with a pot on their head. Gary is first to the top with his pot atop his head so he wins Immunity.

Scheming is Free
Jaime is chastised by his own allies. Judd (pictured) in particular is very critical of him - to his face and in front of everyone. In private Danni and Cindy both say what a jerk Jaime is. Cindy says he has no class. Rafe says that he doesn't know if he can stand himself and go on being aligned with Jaime. Jaime tells Bobby Jon outright that Brandon's head is on the chopping block.

Bobby Jon tells Brandon that Jaime may now be the one to be voted off. He says Stephenie and Judd are going to vote for him because they are feed up with him. Gary tells Rafe, if we do what's right then it's Jaime who will go.

So, it looks like it will be either Brandon or Jaime to be voted off.

Tribal Council

Jeff Probst: Rafe what about Jaime at the Immunity Challenge.
Rafe: It was hard to hear.
Bobby Jon: Jaime has no class.

This starts a war of words between BobbyJon and Jaime.

Jeff Probst: Cindy why did you compete? You're with the majority (old Nakum).
Cindy: I can eat when I get back home. I came here to play and compete. [not to mention that she may not be that safe]
Jeff Probst: What do you base your vote on?
Cindy: Morals and my heart do come into play.

Jeff Probst calls for the Hidden Immunity Doll if anyone has it and wants to use it. No takers so it's voting time.

Time to Vote:
Jaime gets 4 votes but Brandon receives 6 votes so he is voted off.

Well, you've made it to the final nine, two more until the jury. Eighteen days to go and a lot can happen. Everything you did and will do matters.

Brandon's final words:
I played the game I came out to play. I played for myself. They can take me out but they can't take out my pride.

Please don't tell me it will simply be the Nakumians picking off Bobby Jon, Gary and Danni.

I was rooting for Jaime to be voted off and I had him on my fantasy tribe. The sooner that he is gone the better. Rafe is right he's in an Axis of Evil. Well at least Jaime is evil.

The web is real quiet about tonight's episode. I think Judd, Gary and Cindy are in danger of being voted off.

Survivor Fantasy Picks
I'm sticking with the two mini alliances (see SI: Intermingling Alliances ) so I've got Stephenie and Danni and their cronies. I know Stephenie is in more danger now of being voted off because she has played before but she's a threat to win challenges, cries a lot and has previously climbed ruins so I'll take my chances. At this point I think she's still a safe bet.

Now that the merge has happened, it's a whole new game. Here's a quick look at the alliances as I see them.

The Alliances As I See Them
Danni, Brandon and Bobby Jon
These three have been together since the start and Amy recently said that Danni and Brandon have been together since Day 1.

Stephenie, Rafe, and Jaime
These three have also been together since the beginning. Lydia has been with them as well however I think they are just carrying her along. She would be the first gone if she is in with them. Judd was nice to have around for competitions but now that it's individual immunity he is expendable.

Floaters - No Real Alliance
Gary is probably not as close with Danni's Alliance as he thinks he is. Cindy knows she's not welcomed with the current Nakum's so look for her to join up with others. Judd and Lydia probably think they are in with Stephenie's Alliance but that would be a mistake.

So Who Gets Voted Off Next?
Judd, unless he gets immunity of course. He's a threat to win immunity and he's annoying to too many people. With ten Survivors, six votes are needed to avoid a tie (which I'm sure no one wants). Judd is simply the easiest and agreeable to the greatest number of people.

Or not, I could be wrong; it has happened before.

Survivor Live: Amy
Hosts: Jenna Morasca and Ian Rosenberger from Survivor Palau

On Being Voted Off
"I had a blast man!" said a disappointed Amy. She's not sure if her injured ankle had anything to do with it or not, but she wasn't going to just give up because of it. (By the way, she's still in physical therapy for the ankle.) Amy even tried to use her bad ankle to her advantage by telling the others that she wouldn't be much of a threat in challenges with her injury.

She doesn't regret voting off Brian because that was part of an agreement, Brian for Blake. Amy has no regrets and said that her personality got her farther than she thought it would. She would have liked to make the merge, but that's just how it goes.

Gary, Rafe and Stephenie
Gary approached her about joining him and Stephenie in an alliance. Rafe was brought in later because Gary wanted gender balance. Amy felt the four of them could have gone far but the switch-up messed them up, but that's just part of the game. Gary told her that he plans to stay loyal to Danni, Bobby Jon and Brandon.

The Others
Bobby Jon said that Jaime was just getting under his skin. If it did come to blows she thinks Bobby Jon would win (so do I). Blake really cracked her up, whatever the topic of discussion he would have to "one up" everyone else. Danni and Brandon have been together since day one. Danni is a good listener and is really working the game; others seem to naturally go to her.

The Challenges
The archeological dig / puzzle challenge lasted around 30 minutes. Some challenges lasted several hours, for instance the Maya basketball game and the tug-of-war.

Ian's Thoughts
Gary is as bad a liar as he (Ian) was. Jaime is trying to be hard core but he's just alienating the others. Danni is really playing well, but he thought Lydia ("short people make me nervous") would be one of the first voted off along with Stephenie and Bobby Jon. Three weeks ago Judd was one of his favorites but he argues with everyone and now he's at the bottom of the pile. Jenna had a good point (she has one or two each season), Bobby Jon expects everyone else to keep their word but he went back on his word when he voted for Blake.

What's Next for Amy
She's back at work fighting crime as a police sergeant. Ian asked her she ever shot anyone. She said 'no' but she will if she has to.

Note: Dalton Ross was away but should be back next week. Jenna and Ian wore Halloween costumes. Jenna was dressed as Dolly from Survivor Vanuatu (little Bo Peep) and Ian was dressed as Richard Hatch (black & white prisoner stripes).

Mark Burnett Expects Jeff Probst Will Leave After Survivor 12.

Apocalypto
Actor and Producer Mel Gibson has revealed that his next independently produced movie will be set in the ancient culture of the Maya before the Conquest. It will be entirely in the Maya language (Yucatec dialect) and the actors will mostly be indigenous people with no European faces in the cast. He says the Maya culture is the background for a movie he describes as an "action adventure of mythic proportions." Filming will take place near Vera Cruz, Mexico. The movie is to be called Apocalypto. No production dates nor release date have been announced.

Jeff Probst Leaving After-all?
Survivor Producer Mark Burnett has said that he expects host Jeff Probst to leave after his contract expires with the conclusion of Survivor 12. Also Burnett says that he favors a former female contestant as host if Jeff does indeed leave. Could he be referring to Jenna Morasca?

Episode 7: Arrivederci Amy (merge)

Summary: Yaxha win Reward and get a bird's eye view of the jungle along with a lot of chocolate. The two tribes enjoy an afternoon pool party before the immunity challenge. Nakum win Immunity and Yaxha vote Amy off at Tribal Council. After TC Jeff Probst announces Merge!

After the recap of last week's episode, Judd (first interview) kind of, sort of apologizes to Nakum for his outburst at Tribal Council last week. He says things like "If someone attacks me I'm not just gonna sit there and take it. I just blew up. I'm really a big teddy bear, I wouldn't physically hurt anyone." In private Jaime tells us that Judd would be a good person to be in the final two with. [Is this foreshadowing?] Over at Yaxha they talk about the wounds they got from the Big Ball challenge last week. Bobby Jon hurt his right shoulder and several of them have wounds where skin was scrapped off. Amy is self-conscious about hers and Brandon tells her "No, it makes you look tough." [I'm sure that's just what a woman wants to hear.]

Reward Challenge
Competition: Wrap Me Up, Wrap Me Down
Reward: zip line jungle tour and chocolate.
Judd sits out.

For each tribe, four poles are set up with a length of cloth wrapped around it (about a foot in width). At the first pole a Survivor wraps the cloth around himself then goes to the next pole where another Survivor joins in and they have to wrap the cloth around the two of them. Then it is on to pole three where another Survivor joins in and then on to pole four (you get the idea). Along the way a fifth tribe-mate can help them (the winder). Then the four have to unwrap themselves without help and cross the finish line.

Amy and Jaime were the Winders. They were about even through pole 3, but Nakum was the first to be done all four wrappings. However Yaxha passed them in the unwrapping stage as Nakum fell down. Yaxha win Reward!

I'm not a big fan of heights but the zip line cable ride through the jungle treetops looked like fun. Chocolate was waiting for them atop one of the platforms up in a tree.

Pool Party
Danni's (pictured) birthday is the reason for the Surprise Enemy Visit on Nakum. On the boat ride over to Nakum to invite them to a pool party, Gary politely asks them not to say anything negative. At Nakum's camp, Judd is all for a party (not surprising) but Cindy is reluctant. They all end up going back to Yaxha's pool. Danni gives them some chocolate and Stephenie is very happy. Bobby Jon tells us that it was all about a day of fellowship. [the fellowship of the pool?] Jaime was very quite and tells us he was figuring people out. He then prompts Nakum to leave and Stephenie was a bit upset, she wanted to stay longer. In confessional Jaime says that it made him sick to see everyone get along so well.

Immunity Challenge
Competition: Archeological Dig, race and puzzle.
Lydia sits out.

Twelve big pieces (about 4 feet by 3 feet) to a puzzle are buried in sand. Each tribe sends a player to collect a piece in turn, everyone must go once then anyone can go find a piece. Once all 12 pieces are gathered they must be assembled, they make a Maya calendar.

Cindy collected the final piece for Nakum at which point Yaxha were 2 pieces behind. Yaxha made up some time in the puzzle assembly stage but Nakum won Immunity.

Scheming at Yaxha
Amy tells us in private that she knows she's a target and in trouble. She thinks she has an out after she talks with Danni. Amy's only hope is to target Bobby Jon on the premise that he doesn't deserve it because he's played Survivor previously. Gary (pictured) tells Amy that he has to go along with the group but if she can get Danni to vote for Bobby Jon then she has his vote as well. Danni does talk with Brandon about voting for Bobby Jon. Brandon tells us in confessional that he has an alliance with Bobby Jon. In confessional Bobby Jon says that he really wants to make the jury and he'll feel real bad if he doesn't. So it looks like Amy or Bobby Jon at Tribal Council, who will it be?

Yaxha at Tribal Council
(paraphrased, not word for word)

Jeff Probst: It's day 18, Danni does it feel good to get this far?
Danni: Yes, but it would feel better if we weren't at TC.
Jeff Probst: Gary what has changed since last TC?
Gary: We are an even tighter group now.
Jeff Probst: It's day 18, Amy how has the experience been?
Amy: It's been the bomb, I love these guys.
Jeff Probst: Brandon is it difficult deciding who to vote for?
Brandon: Yes it is very difficult. It's hard to justify who deserves your vote. [Bobby Jon looks worried.]
Jeff Probst: Is it a dilemma for you Danni?
Danni: Yes, you have to balance the game with the word you have given others.
Jeff Probst: Bobby Jon how do you handle the dilemma?
Bobby Jon: I keep my word.

Time to Vote:
One vote for Bobby Jon is shown to Yaxha, but three are for Amy.

Jeff Probst's Final Thought
I am convinced that you are all really close and now you will have a new challenge. (Merge, new buffs [red I think] and Yaxha are to go directly to Nakum's camp. Yaxha's things will be moved over for them. They will need to decide on a new tribe name. What's the Maya word for argumentative backstabbers?)

Amy's final words:
I'm very proud that I got this far. I learned a lot about myself and made some great friends. I had a great time.

Alliances
The Merge came just in time for Gary because I'm guessing he was next on Yaxha to be voted off. Now the real question is will current Nakum hold together and pick off current Yaxha or will old Nakum reform and pick off old Yaxha? Or maybe something altogether different? [Check back, I'll deal with this in my next Survivor Instinct post.] Next week's episode should be very interesting.

Heroes and Villains
Jaime (pictured) was a jerk about the pool party. He may think he was really playing the game but pissing people off (Stephenie) is not the way to play Survivor. I'm glad that Danni finally got some screen time. She seems calm, cool and collected (and she's easy on the eyes). Judd tried to do some damage control but I don't think many of them were buying any of it.

Survivor Fantasy League Picks

For what is worth, here are my picks for Survivor Fantasy League.

Rafe, Climbs Ruins.
Danni, First Interviewed Tribal Council.
Jaime, Climbs Ruins.
Stephenie, Climbs Ruins.

It looks like Yaxha will go to Tribal Council and I'm hoping Jeff Probst will question Danni first. She has been manipulating things and maybe Jeff has sniffed it out and calls her out on it. I have been getting some bonus points from Climbs Ruins and it's been from Nakum players.

Other Possibilities
If you're looking for First Interview bonus points then try someone from Nakum. After Judd's performance at Tribal Council last week it will probably be someone commenting on his outburst. I suggest Rafe and/or Stephenie.

Fear threatens to ruin one castaway's ability to enjoy a reward.

An unexpected visit from the opposing tribe makes some of the other castaways uncomfortable about being friendly with the enemy.

A heart to heart ends with one Survivor telling another, "You can lie...But, I will track you down. I will find you!"

After a difficult Tribal Council, the castaways are bombarded with another big surprise.

Commentary, Predictions and Possible Spoilers
It's no secret that Yaxha will visit Nakum, but why is a bit of a mystery. Part of the Survivor rules is that there is no contact between tribes other than the challenges (at least that's how it's been in the past). So why do Yaxha just show up at Nakum's camp? It is probably just the start of the Reward Challenge but you never know.

Fly Through the Jungle
Sometime during the episode the Survivors (or just some of them) will get a zip line tour of the jungle. These cables are strung high up in the jungle. Whether this is part of a competition or a reward remains to be seen. Note that Brandon and Lydia said in their bios that they are afraid of heights.

Predictions
The consensus seems to be that Yaxha go back to Tribal Council. Brandon is mentioned as a surprise eviction but it will most likely be Amy who is voted off. It is believed that Gary is just a red herring, he seems too close to Danni to be voted off. Also I don't see Gary voting for Brandon because all he thinks about is keeping around strength and athletic ability. (I wonder if Gary will change his mind after the merge when he finds himself up against younger, stronger guys for individual immunity?) One screen capture seems to point to Cindy sitting out of the Immunity Challenge. If Nakum find themselves at Tribal Council Cindy is the most likely to be voted off, however some people seem to think Judd is in danger as well.

Stephenie's Smile?
Did you see Stephenie at Tribal Council while Judd was ranting? He was going on about competing and how winning is all that matters and Stephenie gave a little smile of approval (she got a brief close-up).

I take her smile to mean that she likes what Judd was saying, that she would like more tribe-mates like him. Stephenie seems to be the type of player that thinks Survivor is all about athletic prowess, she seems to forget about puzzle-like challenges that test brain power.

I will give her a little credit for playing the social aspect of the game better this time. But just a little, with the likes of Judd and Rafe on her tribe it doesn't take a master of the game to manipulate them.

Now, if Stephenie was smiling because she knew that Judd was self-destructing in front of the others then she is really playing the game well this time. Which is it? We should know in a few weeks.

On Being Voted Off
Margaret seemed resigned to her fate. She half ass-idly (is that a word?) said she and Cindy tried to get Rafe and Lydia to go along with an underdog alliance but only after prodded by Jenna.

Brian: He had a convoluted plan that would have saved himself and gotten Bobby Jon voted off instead. Basically he wanted Danni, Brandon and Bobby Jon to and split their vote on Amy and himself and then he, Gary and Amy would vote off Bobby Jon. It seems this plan never got of the drawing table as even Amy didn't think they would split their vote.

Judd Head
Margaret said that everything she did seemed to irritate Judd (she even gave him her beer and it didn't help). Here are a few words that she had to say about him: physically threatening, volatile, and aggressive. You didn't think she would have anything nice to say about him, did you? She also said that he would pace back and forth for hours at a time (that's the ADD, I guess). Brian only said that Judd wasn't even pretending to play for the others, which is a big mistake.

The Others
Margaret said that Bobby Jon, Brandon and Jaime were very respectful of women (unlike Judd). She also said that Judd and Stephenie seemed to empower each other. Stephenie was also the one who called all of the shots, like who would compete in challenges.

Brian: the Bobby Jon and Jaime confrontations are all about male testosterone and an Alabama-Georgia rivalry. Jeff Probst said that the pairs for the Reward Challenge would be random but they actually got to pick who competed. That's why Judd competed three times but Rafe didn't even compete once. Amy and Gary are close however he also said that he feels Gary, Danni and Bobby Jon have an alliance.

Something They Wished Had Been Shown
Margaret: one night while sleeping a tarantula feel on her and she flicked it off onto Jaime who freaked out [someone earlier said he was unusually scared of bugs].
Brian: 1. he and Lydia were real close and he wished more of them had aired. 2. One day he and Jaime were sitting around talking about the duckbilled platypus and Jaime was amazed by it - "You mean it's a mammal and lays eggs? Then what's a duck?" Brian: "Well, it's a bird."

Gervase - Mystery Caller
I like Gervase but he often talks a lot without saying much. However he had a few good points. Judd is destroying team unity. Gervase likes the double Tribal Council, he said it adds some spice to the game.

What's Next for Margaret and Brian
Margaret is back at work as a nurse but would like to go back to Guatemala to do some relief work.
Brian: Living in Manhattan and tutoring for the SAT.

Note: next week co-host Dalton Ross will be away so there will be a mystery co-host with Jenna Morasca. She also said she would wear a Halloween costume.

Episode 6: Margaret & Brian Leave

Summary: Nakum win Reward which includes the opportunity to compete for Individual Immunity. Rafe then wins Immunity and also gets to sit in on Yaxha's Tribal Council (he also gets to cast a vote for Immunity on Yaxha). In a very entertaining TC Nakum votes Margaret off. At Yaxha's TC they all say how great Brian is and then vote him off (yes, this was a double TC episode).

After the recap of last week's episode, Brandon (first interview) tells us that Blake being voted off last week really opened his eyes. He talks with Bobby Jon about it and he says that it was just one of those things you have to do in this game. Over at Nakum they are dealing with bugs. Rafe tells us that Margaret has a lot of negative energy about her especially since Brooke was voted off. Judd tells us that he thinks Margaret is miserable because she got stuck with him in the tribal switch [it certainly didn't help matters].

Reward Challenge
Competition: Roll With It
Reward: Food (hamburgers, hot dogs, beer, root beer) and Chance for Individual Immunity
Lydia sits out.

Teams of two try and push a big ball (roughly seven foot in diameter) into their goal area. The first tribe to 3 wins.

Stephenie/Cindy lose to Danni/Amy
Judd/Jaime beat Bobby Jon/Brandon
Judd/Stephenie beat Gary/Amy (Amy re-injures her ankle)
Cindy/Margaret lose to Amy/Danni
Judd/Jaime beat Bobby Jon/Brian

Nakum win Reward 3-2. Just afterwards Bobby Jon and Jaime yell at each other while chest-to-chest.

Individual Immunity Challenge (for Nakum only)
Competition: Tile Word Puzzle

Three bags full of tiles with letters on them are tied to a bamboo rack (one set for each Survivor). The contestants then have to race relay-style and untie the bags and return them to their table where they then have to solve the puzzle - 11 letter, 2 word phrase.

Stephenie is the first one to collect all of the bags and start working on the puzzle. However Rafe (pictured) wins Immunity after Judd, who was right next to him, blurts out the answer - Ancient Ruin. I don't think Judd even had his tiles out of the bags.

Scheming at Nakum
Everyone is happy that they won Reward. They wonder why Bobby Jon flipped out after the Reward Challenge. Jaime said he thought it was going to come to blows. He said it was a Southern competitive thing. Judd in private tells us that he is not worried about being voted off because "they need me." Margaret tell us she thinks Judd is offensive and that he does whatever he wants, when he wants and how he wants (quick edit to Judd's beer burps). She goes on to say Judd is his own worse enemy. Cindy seems to agree as she tells us that he is often inconsiderate and out of bounds. Minor problem: someone drank more than their share of beer. Who could it be? Would you believe Judd? He tells us in confessional that he deserved the extra beer because he won it for them.

Scheming at Yaxha
Amy (pictured) states the obvious: it sucks to go to Tribal Council and it's even worse to lose Reward too. She felt that she let them down during the challenge [note, she helped win 2 of 3 challenges that she was in]. She tells us her ankle is swollen again. With the tribe all lamenting losing, Danni says that they "gave everything" they had. Bobby Jon says Jaime is cocky and arrogant and that he had to put him in his place. In confessional Brian says that Amy is an obvious target but that would then put them (he and Gary) at a disadvantage. Brian wants to target Bobby Jon. However Gary doesn't sound like he's going for it. He doesn't want to get rid of Bobby Jon because he is strong. [This kind of amazes me. Gary is still focused on physical ability. He's not going to win this thing.]

Nakum at Tribal Council
(paraphrased, not word for word)
Jeff Probst: Lets start with some fun talk. Stephenie how was the food?
Stephenie: It was awesome, I traded with Judd my beer for a hot dog.
Jeff Probst: Judd you traded food away?
Judd: Yes Jeff, under these conditions I'll trade a hot dog for a cold beer anytime.
Jeff Probst: Jame what happened at the Challenge with Bobby Jon?
Jaime: He was celebrating and yelled at me so I yelled back.
Jeff Probst: Margaret is everyone in Nakum a good sport?

This starts a heated (and very entertaining) discussion between Judd and Margaret. She says he lacks sportsmanship, is a bully and doesn't listen to others. Judd says that winning is what matters most, he does in fact listen to people (3 or 4 of the others sheepishly agree when he puts them on the spot) and that she does not know what she's talking about. He goes on to say that, except for Margaret, he loves his tribe.

Jeff Probst: Cindy how is it having these two on your tribe?
Cindy: Their negativity is not good for the tribe.
Jeff Probst: Rafe are you intimidated by Judd?
Rafe: At first I was a little, but he's been good to me.

Time to Vote:
Margaret is voted off easily (shown to the tribe 4 for her, 1 for Judd).

Jeff Probst's Final Thought
Tonight in your words you "got rid of the problem,' lets see what happens next.

Margaret's final words:
This was physically the most difficult thing I've ever done and I'm glad I did it. Good luck to Nakum.

Rafe gets to vote for Immunity first and then leaves. His Immunity vote is to be revealed after Yaxha's votes are revealed.

Brian receives 4 votes (that's enough) and Bobby Jon 1 vote. The only thing that can save Brian now is if Rafe gave him Immunity. However it is revealed that Rafe had given Immunity to Gary. Brian then has his torch extinguished.

Alliances
On Yaxha Danni (and her pawn Bobby Jon) is the one stirring the drink. If Gary or Amy were smart (but, alas, they're not) they would bring Brandon, who seems out of the loop, in and vote one of them off. On Nakum I'd say Cindy and Lydia are in danger.

Heroes and Villains
Judd is a jerk. I like Amy but can she hold up physically? I also like Danni but I fear she may be too manipulative. I'm afraid Cindy will be gone before we get to know her better.

Predictions
The online buzz is that Brian and Margaret are the most likely to be voted off at the Tribal Councils (this is a double Tribal Council week). Brandon also gets some mention as an evictee. This looks like a big episode for Judd. He's reportedly the one that gets drunk and is the bully at Tribal Council (picking on Margaret). The speculation is that each tribe gets to grant Immunity to someone on the other tribe. Judd is granted Immunity for Nakum so he feels safe in attacking Margaret, so the guessing goes. It's also thought that Amy gets Immunity for Yaxha because of her injury during Reward challenge.

On Being Voted Off
He still didn't see it coming. He thinks Bobby Jon switched his vote at the last minute to seem to be going along with the group. In hindsight he should of had more of a clue. The day of the Tribal Council Blake wanted to tell Brian that he was being voted off but Brandon and Bobby Jon said that wouldn't be a good idea. Why was Brian their pick to be voted off (last week the order was going to be Amy, Brian, Gary)? Amy is a hard worker and hilarious to have around camp.

There Goes the Judd
Judd is miserable in Guatemala and just doesn't want to be there. He is virtually friendless [that's a big problem in this game] although he was kind of friendly with Brandon. However Judd even bad-mouthed Brandon behind his back. Judd was so much of a handful that Jeff Probst at times didn't know what to do with him.

Stephenie
The three of them spent some time talking about Stephenie. Blake said he didn't spend much time with her (he was never in a tribe with her) but he did say that he thought her athletic ability was over rated. Blake said he thought Danni was better than Stephenie. Tom said the real truth about Stephenie's personality is between the all-American girl image of Palau and her portrayal so far on Guatemala.

The Others
Everyone knows that Gary is lying and was in the NFL - it's no big deal. Blake said he was real close with Margaret [I guess they became so while he was so sick.] Brian is obviously very smart and no one believed him when he said that he attended Connecticut State (or some such nonsense). Brian is also a real student of Survivor, however he gives himself more credit than he deserves for things like getting Blake voted off. Brian also said that he doesn't want to just slide through the game he wants to be a factor in it. Jaime is a pretty cocky kid. Blake was very grateful for the back scratching that Danni did for him

Tom mentioned that we haven't seen the sleeping arrangements. Blake said that people really aren't sleeping together because it is so hot. The only real choice is sleeping with clothes on and being really hot but bug free or less clothes and cooler but more bugs.

What's Next for Blake
He's applying to the FBI but if that doesn't work out he will go back to the real estate business in Dallas. He thought about going Hollywood but Bobby Jon told him how much trouble he's had in several years of trying.

Summary: Yaxha easily win Reward, a crocodile proof swimming pool, but Nakum win Immunity. With help from Brian's scheming (Bait Blake) Blake is voted off at Tribal Council. It looks like Danni went against her old tribe mates.

After the recap of last week's episode, Stephenie says that she's sick of losing. Judd and Margaret have a few words. He says this is a cutthroat game. In private Margaret tells us that Judd is a traitor and Judd says he only cares about his family's love; he doesn't care what the others think of him, he'll do what it takes to win. Over on Yaxha, Blake tells us that he likes his new tribe. They have the numbers and he thinks the odds for him are good. Amy freaks out over a beetle and is surprised to learn that they can fly. In confessional Brian admits to being a city slicker amongst the outdoorsy.

Reward Challenge
Competition: Watch the Tram Car, Please
Reward: a crocodile proof swimming pool

At two stations four long wooden handles must be freed and then the handles are used in a turnstile to wench a rope that pulls a cart up a hill. The tribe then gets in the cart and rides it down to the finish line.

This was all Yaxha. Jaime started first for Nakum but he never finished the first station (cutting through a rope with a sharp rock) before Yaxha crossed the finish line. Brandon chopped his way through the rope very quickly and Yaxha never looked back. Jeff even said it was one of the biggest blowouts so far on Survivor Guatemala. After the win Bobby Jon gloats a little and it irks Nakum.

The pool is a floating swim cage at the end of a little dock with a deck around it. It's big enough so that all of them can get into it at once. They also won margaritas, guacamole and chips. As they enjoy their reward, we learn that Brian is playing his Bait Blake game - get him to talk so it pisses the others off. Blake does come off as a jerk as he tells stories of his dating and drinking and women. Gary says "So what you're saying Blake is I don't want you dating my daughters." Danni doesn't look like she is happy with Blake either and Amy has dubbed him the Golden Boy. Brandon (pictured) however is being modest about his fine performance in the Reward Challenge, Gary says of him "he's a new hero."

Over on Nakum most of them are publicly supportive of Jaime, but privately they are a little upset at him. Judd says "we got our asses kicked." Jaime says that he tried his best and the others say things like 'that's all you can do.'

Immunity Challenge
Competition: Catapult and Catch

Brian and Lydia take turn catapulting balls while groups of three try to catch the balls. The first tribe to catch five balls wins. Nakum won 5 to 2, the group of Stephenie, Judd and Rafe did well catching for them.

Scheming
Gary and Brian (pictured) want to get Blake voted off, they just need one member from old Nakum to flip. Who will it be? Next we see Danni talking with Brandon about voting for Blake. Brandon says that there is no way he will vote for him.

Well, well well . . . things didn't go as the Three Amigos (Brandon, Bobby Jon and Blake) had planned. I assume Danni flipped, I guess she doesn't mind voting with that liar Gary - for now anyway. Judd better watch his butt. Stephenie, Jaime, Rafe and Lydia can vote him off now and still have the numbers against Cindy and Margaret.

I'm sick of Stephenie, she's no longer America's girl to me. I'm done rooting for her. All she does is whine when she loses and to top it off tonight after the Reward Challenge she said Bobby Jon cheers like a girl.

Predictions
My usual sources for predictions are all quiet, so I'll venture my own guesses. Cowboys must a reference to Gary (he played for the Dallas Cowboys). Who else is a cowboy? Brandon maybe? Judd I would describe as a City Slicker but who else? Amy maybe?

So just going by the episode's title I hereby predict that Amy is voted off at Tribal Council. It sounds like the episode will deal with Yaxha a lot which means they go to TC. The old Nakum 4 on Yaxha have said they are targeting Amy first. If Nakum go to TC then look for Cindy or Margaret to be voted off tonight.

Survivor Host Gushes About New Love
New York (AP Oct. 11, 2005) - "Survivor" host Jeff Probst can't stop gushing about "Vanuatu" contestant Julie Berry.

"I finally met someone who could teach me about love," Probst says of Berry in the Oct. 17 issue of People magazine.

Berry, one of 18 contestants on CBS' "Survivor: Vanuatu — Islands of Fire," was among the five still in the running before she was voted off by her rivals. The winner of the ninth edition of the reality show was revealed in December 2004.

The couple didn't start dating until after the show was over, Probst has said. His five-year marriage to Shelley Wright ended in divorce in 2001.

Berry, 24, has moved from Gorham, Maine, to Los Angeles, where she is earning her master's degree in marriage and family therapy at California State University, Northridge.

"Being committed to each other — that's the point," Berry tells the magazine.

Meanwhile, Probst, 43, is mulling renewal of his "Survivor" contract, which is up after he tapes the show's 12th edition this fall.

"There's the inevitable point where you go, `Do I want to do other things?'" he says. "But ... I'll never have as good a job as `Survivor.'"

Jeff Probst Quitting Survivor?
There are several news sources reporting that host Jeff Probst is considering life after Survivor (here's one such article at E! Online). Basically he says that six years is a long time to do one show and now that he's in love with Julie Berry they are considering starting a family together. His contract is up after Survivor Guatemala and he is contemplating whether or not he wants to continue his hosting duties. Doing two editions of Survivor a year means he spends four to six months out of the country. However he does say that he would have trouble finding as good a job as Survivor.

Who Else Can Host Survivor?
The producers of Survivor mentioned that they would consider former Survivors as a possible replacement for Jeff Probst. I think the list is a rather short one.

Long shots: Richard Hatch, winner Borneo, would be a good choice but he is too busy dealing with the IRS. Ethan, winner Africa, not enough experience in front of the camera. Elizabeth, Outback, current host of the View; I don't think she would give up that gig. Jenna Lewis, Borneo, has experience in front of a camera however some of it is of an adult nature so she's out. Rupert, Pearl Island, is popular but has no real TV experience.

Having a decent chance: Jenna Morasca, winner Amazon, has TV hosting experience and is generally well liked (although I don't care for her). Rob C., Amazon, has been on Kill Reality and is the co-producer of the horror movie. Colby, runner-up Outback, would be a good choice however he has a budding acting career and I don't know if he wants to go back to reality TV. Shii Ann, Thailand, has co-hosting experience ( IMDb ) and is in a profession (corporate recruiter) where presentation skills are required. Here's her bio at RealityTV world .

I vote for Shii Ann (pictured), however looking at the former Survivors it would not surprise me if someone other than a former Survivor replaces Jeff Probst if the need arises.

Second Thoughts and Sudden Thoughts About Survivor

Judd, Smart or Stupid?
Was Judd's "betrayal" of the old Nakum tribe a smart thing for him to do or not? A lot of people seem to think it was a stupid move, but I'm not so sure. His critics say Judd should have suggested Rafe or Lydia to be voted off to Stephenie and Jaime. That way old Nakum would have the majority and Judd would be the swing vote. Judd could then vote with Stephenie, Jaime and Rafe/Lydia or he could vote with Cindy, Margaret and Brooke. The only problem with that strategy is often the person in the middle like that becomes the target and is voted off. I'm not sure Judd has skill and social grace to pull something like that off.

Additionally what's the real danger? Brooke won't be on the jury to decide who wins the million dollars and neither will Cindy or Margaret if they're the next two to go. Judd has to hope he makes the merge (assuming there is a merge). Blake, Brandon and Bobby Jon (former Nakum now on Yaxha) will understand that Judd "had to do what he did."

If Nakum can just win a few of the upcoming Immunity Challenges then I think Judd will be OK.

Reality TV: America's fast track to fame and fortune (Reuters)
This article talks about reality TV and a new book How to Get on Reality TV, by Matthew Robinson. Here's some highlights: 25,000 to 50,000 people apply to be on the top reality TV shows like Survivor. Almost all of them regret it, with the exception of everybody on Amazing Race, all of whom loved it. The Bachelor participants said they totally regretted it and ended up looking like idiots. "The experience of being on these shows is pretty traumatic. I feel for a lot of people who come out of it totally shell-shocked," Robinson said.

Robinson said he was surprised at the hurdles potential contestants have to go through, including spending several days sequestered in a hotel, full medicals by three separate doctors, psychological tests and background checks by private investigators. "Most people quit their jobs to get on these shows. People definitely sacrifice a lot," he said.

Reality TV is here to stay because you can do an entire season of The Bachelor for the same cost as one episode of ER.

Brooke is a genuine, down to earth woman and I wish she stayed longer on Survivor Guatemala so we could get to know her better.

On Being Voted Off
The new Nakum members (Stephenie, Jaime, Rafe and Lydia) didn't see how strong and athletic she really is. Brooke doesn't really blame them there just wasn't much time between the switch and Tribal Council.

Here Comes the Judd
What was Judd thinking? He was in a group of four [old Nakum] and now he's last in a group of five with the new Nakum members. Brooke said that she didn't see for herself the first time Judd talked with Stephenie and Jaime but Margaret told her about it. So why did he betray them? She thinks Judd just thinks [if you could call it that] in the very short-term and doesn't really consider the consequences to what he does. Brooke went on to say a lot of them [meaning the original Nakum women, I assume] didn't trust him; they didn't like his uncaring reaction to Blake being sick. She called Judd a "phony" and said he was always on the "outskirts" of the group. Judd did come alive for the challenges but she described him as a "bull in a china shop" at the competitions. Judd may have sensed their feelings resulting in his quick and easy betrayal of them.

Stephenie
Brooke doesn't really like Stephenie, she's not really sure Stephenie ever learned her name. Stephenie doesn't seem to work well with others (Jenna adds: especially with other strong women). The final dart at Stephenie: she's a little self absorbed.

The Others
Lydia is very energetic, especially at challenges, and does a lot of work around camp. Brooke says she really bonded and had an alliance with Danni. Brooke didn't go in the water because Cindy, the zookeeper, didn't. CBS told them that if they have to run away from a crocodile to run in a zig-zag. [See, you can learn something from TV.]

Challenges
Brooke's favorite challenge was the Basketball challenge, she didn't really do well but it was fun. The two that she feels she did well on were: 1. the Rope Web, she kind of surprised herself that she didn't fall off (like Rafe) and managed to get one of the more difficult bags; 2. Eleven Mile Jungle Hike, she led the way along with Jim and they didn't get lost (her contribution was edited out of the broadcast).

Best Camp?
Nakum supposedly won the better camp after the 11 mile hike. Brooke disagrees, Nakum have a longer way to go to get water than Yaxha does. Also Nakum's beach is like quick sand so they cannot hangout by the water.

Ami - Mystery Caller
Ami likes Stephenie but says Danni is gaining on her fast. Ami also said that she would have liked to have seen more of Brooke, but she doesn't like Gary (he's a bad liar) and Margaret. She rhetorically asked why Danni and Margaret are so thin (Ami gained 20 pounds before going on Survivor). Ami doesn't think Judd will be on the bottom of the Stephenie/Jaime alliance - Lydia will be on the bottom. What's Ami doing now? She's done some traveling and work for Venus swim-wear. What's Next for Brooke
Brooke plans to spend a lot of time studying for the bar, which she plans on taking in February. Then she intends to look for a job in the legal field. [What, no lame attempts to exploit her good looks? How refreshing.]

Summary: the Reward Challenge is just a cover for switching some tribe members. Nakum lose a close Immunity Challenge and vote off Brooke, thereby leaving Survivor Guatemala with no cute women.

After the recap of last week's episode, Cindy (first interview), Margaret, Judd and Brandon are complaining about the heat and mosquitos. Over at Yaxha it doesn't seem like the heat is bothering them as they hangout by the water catching minnows with a bucket. Rafe jokingly says they are a "finely tuned fishing machine." Then crikey! (in your best Jeff Corwin voice, spelling?) There's one gigantic crocodile out in the lake.

The Switching of Tribes
Under guise of a Reward Challenge the tribes are shuffled. Jeff Probst starts by saying that it is Day 9 and there will be a little challenge to see where they stand with their fellow Survivors. A little quiz is started.

Question 1: Who in your tribe is in most need of nourishment?
Yaxha votes for Jaime, Nakum votes for Danni. Jeff gives each of them an apple.

Question 2: Who in your tribe is the smelliest?
Yaxha votes for Gary, Nakum votes for Bobby Jon. Jeff lets each of them shower.

Question 3: Who in your tribe are in most need of a picnic? Vote for one man and one woman.
Yaxha votes for Gary and Amy, Nakum votes for Judd and Margaret. Jeff gives the four of them a huge, well stocked picnic basket and they go to the top of a Maya pyramid to enjoy it.

Question 4: Who in your tribe has the most tribe pride?
Yaxha votes for Brian, Nakum votes for Cindy.

Jeff announces the shuffling of tribe members. Brian and Cindy will stay in their tribes, as will the four off on a picnic. The others switch tribes (Nakum have an extra person so there's a drawing of lots and Brooke also stays with Nakum).

The new tribes look like this:
Yaxha: Gary, Brian, Amy, Brandon, Danni, Bobby Jon, Blake.
Nakum: Cindy, Margaret, Judd, Jaime, Rafe, Stephenie, Lydia, Brooke.

Meanwhile at the picnic, Gary once again has to deny that he was a quarterback in the NFL. The others don't look like they are believing him. Amy tells us in private that if Gary really is a millionaire and lying she will freakin' kill him. The picnickers are surprised to find out about the switch when they return to their tribes.

Scheming
Brian, ever the smart Ivy League student, does the math and correctly figures he's on the short side of a 4 to 3 vote. Brandon, Bobby Jon and Blake set the order of removal: Amy first, then Brian and lastly Gary. They end by saying they will tell Danni of their decision. Amy tells us that she feels vulnerable and that she's trying to hide her sprained ankle from the new Yaxha members (I don't think it's working).

Over at the new Nakum, votes would appear to be even (4 Nakum and 4 former Yaxha). Judd likes his new tribe. He makes fast friends with Stephenie and Jaime. He also sees himself as the big man in the tribe (Jaime and Rafe aren't that strong physically). The three of them plot to vote off Brooke if they go to Tribal Council. Stephenie seems certain Rafe (her pawn?) and Lydia will go along with them.

Immunity Challenge
Competition: row boat out into lake to collect 3 bags of Maya throwing clubs, return to beach and use the clubs to break 3 tiles. The first tribe to break the tiles wins Immunity.
Sits Out: Lydia

Nakum take an early lead on the lake and get back to the beach with their bags first, although Yaxha aren't that far behind. Brian and Stephenie start throwing clubs at the tiles. Stephenie gets hers, but Brian gives up without braking one. Judd struggles as Danni and Blake each break a tile to put Yaxha in the lead. Judd breaks a tile and Jaime takes over for Nakum. However Brandon nails the third and final tile for Yaxha. Yaxha win Immunity!

More Scheming
Rafe says it's 4 versus 4 but hopefully they can swing one of the others - it looks like Judd will go along with them (Rafe, Stephenie, Jaime, Lydia). Brooke, Cindy and Margaret are targeting Lydia but aren't sure Judd will go along with them.

Jeff Probst: Stephenie you have been to so many Tribal Councils do you feel like a bad luck charm?
Stephenie: I've wondered that too, I hope I'm not.
Jeff Probst: Margaret how is the new group dynamic working out?
Margaret: There has not been much pairing off although I did notice Judd with Stephenie and Jaime.
Jeff Probst: Judd did you know you were being watched?
Judd: Hey, it was nothing really. I was just being social "Hi, my name is Judd," that sort of thing.
Jeff Probst: Lydia you've been to a few TCs as well, how confident are you tonight?
Lydia: I feel vulnerable, I don't know if the others know my strengths yet.

Brooke: Yes, strength seems to be a big deal and I'm not that strong.
Jeff Probst: Judd in your profession (NYC doorman) you deal with a lot of different types of people, does that help you here?
Judd: Yes, I think it's very important. I know very quickly if I connect with people or not.

Time to Vote:
Lydia gets 3 votes and Brooke gets 5 votes. It seems Judd was the swing vote and betrayed his old Nakum tribe mates for his new Nakum tribe mates.

Jeff Probst's Final Thought
As tribal lines and personal loyalties shift it becomes harder to trust.

Brooke's final words include "I was only here 11 days but I did so much" and she wished the original Nakum women well.

Alliances
In Yaxha it's Gary, Brian, Amy versus Brandon, Danni, Bobby Jon, Blake. Over at Nakum it's Cindy and Margaret versus Judd, Jaime, Rafe, Stephenie, Lydia.

Heroes and Villains
Props to Judd for making a bold move although it could come back to haunt him. I'm cheering for Cindy but I don't really care for Margaret - she just seems clueless to me. Having Gary and Danni in the same tribe should be interesting. No one is believing his lie, will she confront him herself?

Won Reward: No real reward challenge; switch-up of the tribes instead. Although Gary, Amy, Judd and Margaret got to go on a picnic on top of a Maya pyramid.

Predictions
Once again spoilers are non-existent on the web. Furthermore knowing the tribes are switched up makes things even harder. Without a switch I'd say Nakum goes to Tribal Council because you would need an even number of Survivors to live up to the title To Betray or Not to Betray.

So that leaves the Athletes Alliance (Gary, Stephenie, Amy) and the Three Amigos (Brandon, Judd, Bobby Jon) for betrayal. I'd say the most likely to be voted off are Gary, Bobby Jon and Blake (a friend of the Amigos).

I'm getting Gary off of my Fantasy Team, but I'm not sure who I'll replace him with.

Second Thoughts and Sudden Thoughts About Survivor

The Athletic Alliance
According to Brianna, it looks like Gary, Stephenie and Amy have formed an alliance (I have dubbed this alliance the Athletic Alliance). It's an alliance based solely on athletic ability. Gary was a quarterback in the NFL and Amy was also a professional football player. Athletically Stephenie is probably one of the strongest women players ever on Survivor. So this alliance should do well, right? No.

To state the obvious once again, Survivor is about interpersonal relationships not athletic ability. No matter how athletic or physically strong a person or alliance is he/she/they must deal with the voting of the others. Yes I know Colby won a string of Individual Immunities (way back on Survivor Australia) but he didn't win the one million dollars - Tina did and she was not very athletic at all.

Furthermore not all challenges are athletic or physical in nature. Puzzle solving skills are also tested, memory too. Interpersonal skills are also needed sometimes, like when there's a quiz challenge - "Which Survivor has a sister-in-law who lives in Tucson?" - that type of thing.

Lastly the Athletic Alliance won't work because it is an obvious one. The others should b able to sniff it out without much problem. A small alliance of 2 or 3 people without much in common has a better chance of succeeding (like Brian and Lydia).

I'll Toot My Own Horn
The first two people voted off of Survivor Guatemala, Jim and Morgan, were at the bottom of my pre-season handicapping list. Also Brianna was close to the bottom. See for yourself: Handicapping the Survivors .

On Being Voted Off & General Stuff
She said she was voted off for her bad performance during the Immunity Challenge. She has no excuse for her lazy performance. However she also said that she was exhausted and had "checked out" physically and mentally by the time of the Immunity Challenge. Brianna also does not know why they disliked her so much. She would do it all over again if she had the chance, but next time she would have a strategy going in.

Stephenie
Brianna about Stephenie: She played me good. I liked her up until last night. Stephenie has taken on a leadership role but is getting too bossy. Early on Jaime mentioned voting Stephenie off but everybody just ignored him.

The Others
Yaxha's unity is falling apart. She likes and respects Gary, they share a common faith (anyone know their religion?). She doesn't know why Jaime doesn't like her, a "fight" between them at Tribal Council wasn't aired (she didn't elaborate). Also Jaime was real afraid of the wildlife, especially the bugs and pumas (which they never even saw). She thinks Danni is nice but she didn't have much of a chance to get to know the people on Nakum. Lydia worked hard around camp and that's what's keeping her in the game.

Athletes Alliance?
Brianna said that on the 11 mile hike Stephenie asked her to join an alliance with her, Gary and Amy. Later Rafe said he and Morgan were also in the alliance. Gary told her Morgan would be the first of them to go.

Coby - Mystery Caller
He likes Survivor Guatemala but there's too much Stephenie and Bobby Jon. Coby also likes Cindy and is rooting for her to do well. Rafe - yuch! He's too much like Katie from Survivor Palau. Stephenie - there's no 'I' in team. What's Coby up to now? He's working in a saloon in Texas, er I mean hair salon in Texas and raising baby Janu (adopted, just turned 5 months old). Coby's bio at Survivor web site.

What's Next for Brianna
She's just taking life day by day. She'd love to do something else (TV-related, I assume she means). She is no longer a make-up artist [say it isn't so!] and is a bartender. [The vain and self-conscious lose a make-up artist but the alcoholics gain an enabler.]

Summary: Nakum win both Reward and Immunity and Yaxha vote off Brianna.

After the recap, at Yaxha Lydia said if she had had her way Brianna would have been voted off instead of Morgan. Brianna tells us that she just doesn't get along well with Lydia. Brian proudly states that he engineered Morgan's ouster last week. Over at Nakum, a howler monkey is driving some of the Survivors nuts with its howl. Judd leads the complaints. Cindy, the zookeeper, thinks it's wonderful - "How can I complain, I wake up and I'm in Guatemala listening to a howler monkey!"

Reward Challenge
Competition: build a tent as a team
Reward: comfort - blankets, lanterns, etc.

Each tribe must build a tent, the first one to do so wins reward. Pieces of the tents are strewn all around and all but one tribe member is blindfolded. The caller for each tribe must direct his tribe-mates to collect the tent parts. After the parts are gathered, the blindfolds are removed and the tent has to be assembled. Gary calls for Yaxha and Brooke for Nakum.

Yaxha builds a slight lead and gets their tent pieces collected first. However they have trouble getting the tent frame together and Nakum win reward!

Back at camp, Stephenie (pictured) says that was one of the easiest challenges yet and they blew it. Amy tells the others that they have to just put it behind them and move on. Amy tells us that working in a police station is "a walk in the park" compared to Survivor. She's never been an outdoor person but she won't give up, she'll do whatever it takes to win. Brianna tells us that she tries to work hard around camp. They all complain about eating so much corn meal. Rafe says they crave anything different - termites anyone? He tries some and pronounces them tastier than the ants. Stephenie is grossed out again.

Meanwhile at Nakum, they enjoy their win a little. Bobby Jon (pictured) it feels good to win, he's not used to it. Judd reminds everyone to enjoy the winning feeling. A lot of them complain about the heat and decide to take the boat and go for a swim despite the crocodiles. Brandon tells us that they should "live on the edge a little bit. The brave may not live long, but the cautious don't live at all." [hey, that sounds familiar.] Cindy, the zookeeper, thinks this is a bad idea. It's the hot part of the day and the crocs will also go out to deeper water. However the swimmers (Brandon, Bobby Jon, Judd, maybe a few others too) don't even see a croc. Back at camp, they decide to make a new shelter and Margaret bosses everyone around. Judd and Bobby Jon really complain about her. Judd: "Starting by barking orders this early in the game is not a good idea."

Immunity Challenge
Competition: court-ball, modeled on an ancient Mayan game. (temp. 114 F / 45 C / 318 K)

The game is similar to basketball, but it is played on nets and the hoops are vertically aligned instead of horizontal as in basketball. Points / baskets will be played 3-on-3, first tribe to 5 points wins immunity. Also this is a catch-and-pass game, no running with the ball.

Scoring points for Yaxha: Brian, Rafe and Jaime (1 point each).
Scoring for Nakum: Danni (3 pts., pictured) and Blake (2 pts.).
Nakum win Immunity! Before the start of the last point, Stephenie asks Lydia and Brianna if they know what a pick is? They don't and Stephenie is a little frustrated. Then to make things worse Brianna looks like she isn't even trying. The other Yaxhas are yelling at Brianna to move (she doesn't).

Back at camp, the scheming starts. Stephenie says "here we go again, why can't I get on a good tribe?" Amy (pictured) hurt her ankle during the game. She said she heard two snaps [or pops, but definitely not crackles]. Lydia tells us that she tries real hard. Jaime tells us that it looks like Brianna is going home. He says that he likes women who are "crazy and pretty, she's neither." [I don't know how crazy she is, but Brianna is pretty enough for me.] In private, Brianna says that "if there was a weak link today it was probably me." [Well girl, recognizing the problem is the first step. Why didn't she work the others to counter this perception?] Gary says that without a doubt athletic ability is the most important thing right now so they won't lose any more challenges.

Jeff Probst: Stephenie is TC getting familar?
Stephenie: Yes, I'm having flashbacks. I hate losing, it makes me sick. I was frustrated today at Immunity Challenge because they didn't know what a pick is.

Brianna: I don't think they hold it against me because I don't know what a pick is. [No, they hold it against you that you didn't really try to win.]
Lydia: I stunk today (at Immunity Challenge), but I did my best. [I think the others would agree with that.]
Jeff Probst: Are you guys outmatched athletically? [A leading question for Gary no doubt.]
Gary says athleticism is very important.
Amy says she's injured a little bit. She turned her ankle but it's not broken so she can play on.

Time to Vote:
Lydia gets 1 vote and Brianna 5 votes. As she leaves Brianna says "stay strong, kick Nakum's butt." As the credits roll, she says " . . . I'm athletic but not as much as the others . . ."

Jeff Probst "Eight days in and you've chosen the strategy of strength over weakness, which can be risky at times." [Does this mean that next week's Immunity Challenge is a hair styling and make-up quiz?]

Alliances
Stephenie seems to hang out with Amy and Lydia a lot. Rafe and Stephenie seem to get along well too. Brian secretly helped Lydia. That leaves Gary all alone. It wouldn't surprise me if he's the next one gone from Yaxha. Over at Nakum it's harder to tell since they haven't been to TC for a while but Bobby Jon, Judd and Brandon seem to hang out together. They didn't seem to like Margaret much tonight. Nakum did select Brooke (pictured) to be their caller at the Reward Challenge so they must trust her at least a little bit.

Heroes and Villains
On Yaxha I like Stephenie, I know she's a little cocky at times ("I'm the strongest woman here, they can't vote me off!") but she's sincere even if she doesn't fully understand this game. Rafe seems like a nice guy, but he doesn't get this game and is just floating by. He's a pawn waiting for someone to pick him up and coach him along in the game. Please let it be Stephenie. I'm afraid it will be Brian, who I think can play this game. On Nakum, I like Danni. The three amigos Bobby Jon, Judd and Brandon (pictured) are entertaining. I think Cindy is a player but I need more time to see whether or not I like her. Brooke is easy on the eyes.

Predictions
Rumors and spoilers are hard to come by for this episode. The usual suspects are considered ripe for being voted off: Brianna, Lydia and Blake. Some people think the title means Gary will be gone since he's been cautious in his dealings with the others. Most people seem to think Amy and her injury is just a red herring. There's also very little information about the types of challenges and which tribes win them. However one challenge looks like it uses an ancient Mayan game similar to basketball.

Note: if any rumors or juicy bits of information turn up before Survivor airs, I'll update this post.

Survivor Fantasy
What is going on with CBS' Survivor Fantasy online game? This season it is less than perfect to say the least. I tried to join all of the tribes that invited me to play and I ended up in three: Survivor Slackers, Survivorholics Anonymous and Kindalikalaya. If you invited me to be in your tribe and I didn't join it's because of a glitch in the CBS system.

Anyway, last week I started Judd (20 points), Danni (20), Gary (0) and Brandon (20). I'll probably start these four again this week (if I change my mind I'll update this post).

Has anyone tried playing at Fantasy Survivor ? Is it any good?

Second Guessing Gary
When I first heard that Gary was planning on lying about his NFL past, I thought it was a good idea. Being a former pro athlete would make him a target on two levels (physical and financial), so lying seemed the way to go. I have since changed my mind.

Ultimately Survivor is a game about interpersonal relationships and anything that prevents someone from being themselves is a detriment to them in the game. Most sane and sensible people, like Gary, are not used to lying. At the very least, the others are bound to sense that something is just not quite right. Furthermore if they have a good reason to believe Gary is really lying (I think Danni will be able to convince them) then he is done for sure.

So how should Gary have dealt with his quarterbacking past? There are two issues that have to be handled and each to a certain extent can be dealt with the attitude of "that was so long ago." First the money issue, "that was 25 years ago and NFL players didn't make as much money as they do now, especially back-up QBs like I was." Also he could say that he didn't make enough money to retire on during his NFL career. That's why he works now in land development. Plus he has kids in college, etc., you get the picture.

Similarly he can allay their fears of his physical ability by saying that playing in the NFL hurts players later in life (it's true, bad knees - the whole bit, plus a shorter life expectancy). Gary could say "look I have trouble playing a round of golf now, let alone competing with twenty year-olds in a Survivor challenge."

However this can't help Gary now. He's started his lame web of deceit and it will end up being his downfall. To make things worse, he really is a bad liar.

Survivor Producer Mark Brunett recently brought up the prospect of Canadians on the American version of Survivor (for more info see yesterday's Survivor News Flash). I would welcome them. Survivor is a game about people and people from other countries would make it more interesting. How about having a Survivor Mother Tongue English? Native English speakers from Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand would get to compete. Would anyone else be interested in such a season of Survivor?

Survivor: Guatemala premieres to 18.4 million viewers, ranks as the week's top entertainment program.

The premiere of Survivor: Guatemala just off to a strong start last Thursday, with the eleventh edition of the long-running CBS reality series drawing 18.4 million viewers and ranking as the week's top entertainment program among total viewers and both the Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 demographics.

Dominating the night in all key metrics, Survivor: Guatemala's September 15 debut averaged a 10.9/18 rating/share in households, a 8.0/21 in Adults 25-54, a 6.6/19 in Adults 18-49, and a 4.7/16 in Adults 18-34. Survivor also crushed its time period competition, topping the second place finisher in viewers (ABC's Prime Time Live) by 184%, in households (Prime Time Live) by 137%, in Adults 25-54 (Prime Time Live and Fox's The O.C.) by 220%, in Adults 18-49 (The O.C.) by 120%, and in Adults 18-34 (The O.C.) by 21%.

Although Survivor: Guatemala's performance was actually down slightly from last fall's premiere of Survivor: Vanuatu, most other broadcast network programming was still in repeats, resulting in Guatemala's premiere easily ranking as the week's top entertainment program.

Survivor: Guatemala's premiere ranked third in the weekly viewership rankings, behind only ABC's NFL Monday Night Football and CBS' 57th Annual Emmy Awards broadcasts. Survivor ranked even higher in the Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54 rankings, where it placed second to only ABC's football broadcast.

She really didn't see it coming. They all told her that it was between Lydia and Brianna. She believes Gary was protecting Brianna.

Gary's Secret
It sounds like they aren't believing Gary's cover story, which creates more distrust about him. What else is he lying about? Even to Morgan, his story and reaction were suspicious. Jenna thinks even his name sounds made up (Hawkins vs Hogeboom, she's right). Before Brian brought it up (Gary in the NFL) no one suspected a thing.

The Others
Rafe is well liked even if he's not much of an athlete. She thinks he'll be good at any puzzles that come up. She said that he did not know how to use flint to make fire (I thought Rafe was a real outdoors-man?).

Jaime was sick before the Tug of War. She really dislikes Brian, she called him a "big jerk." Lydia told them that she'll need a hip replacement soon.

Andrew Savage - Mystery Caller
He really likes Survivor Guatemala (no surprise there, would they have him on if he disliked Survivor Guatemala?). He likes Margaret to win it all. He still stays in touch with some of his fellow Survivors (the 5 Morgans). He recently moved to California and works as an attorney for Yahoo. Andrew Savage bio at Survivor web site.

What's Next for Morgan
She's working at Six Flags Great America in Chicago where she started as a dancer but moved up to the position of magician's assistant (she had to take a course for it). They are currently doing a Halloween show she described as Rocky Horror for kids.

Episode 2: Morgan Disappears

Morgan, the magician's assistant and waitress, disappears at Tribal Council. Blake recovers enough to help Nakum win Reward and Judd is the hero at the Immunity challenge. I'm glad Morgan is gone. I want to see real people play this game and not aspiring actors and models looking to forward their pathetic, nonexistent "careers."

After the recap: at Nakum Blake isn't well. He says he has trouble breathing and eating and drinking doesn't help either (what else is there?). Margaret, the nurse, is worried about him. Brandon tells us in private, in reference to Blake, that sometimes "You just got to 'man up'." Over in Yaxha they're behaving like a happy family. Someone says that it doesn't look like Nakum is having fun. The women braid each other's hair and Stephenie tells us that 'we are family.'

Reward Challenge
Competition: Web of ropes over water
Reward: fishing gear

Eight bags are tied to the web at various places around the web. Race style, one at a time a member of each tribe must run across a net bridge to the rope web, climb onto the web and retrieve a bag. Everyone must go at least once then anyone can go at it. If a Survivor falls of the web without a bag he/she returns and another goes.

After the first for each tribe get bags, Brandon (vs Gary) gets Nakum a bit of a lead. Margaret extends the lead as Rafe is unable to get a bag and then really struggles just to get back to his tribe. Judd promptly blows part of the lead by missing a bag himself. Morgan manages to get a bag for Yaxha, but Brianna doesn't. Danni and Brooke are successful as are Lydia and Jaime.

It is tied 7 bags a piece and Blake and Brian are dead even as they leave the starting line. It is close all along but Blake manages to eke out the win for Nakum!

The next day Nakum get up early (at "the butt crack of dawn" according to Brandon) and go fishing with their new fishing tackle. Blake (pictured) seems to be a little better but then has trouble breathing again later. In private, Judd rants to us about Blake - he does nothing in camp, he sleeps all the time so he is strong for the challenges, and Margaret just babies him "sit down, relax, drink some water." Judd finishes by saying that he'd like to be the hero for once. Danni tells us that she knows Gary was an NFL quarterback.

Over at Yaxha they scrounge for food. Rafe tells us they will try eating anything at least once, (finds grasshopper) "anyone want to eat a grasshopper?" Later Rafe and Gary find an ant nest. Some of them eat ants but not Stephenie, she says they are "nasty". Lydia, the magical fish monger, quietly goes out and gets a bunch of minnows using nothing but the lake, sand and a burlap sack (now that's what I call magic).

Immunity Challenge

First a group tug of war. They each have a rope around their waists attached to the main rope between the tribes. After 15 minutes there is no winner so it moves to individual tugs of war (tug of wars?). The first tribe to get 3 flags wins immunity. Anyone may compete and as many times as they want. There is a 5 minute time limit and at the end of the time who is ever closer will win the flag.

First up, Judd beats Gary. Then Brandon defeats Jaime . Then it's Judd versus Jaime. Jaime looks like he's going to win on a time out but then he relaxes and Judd makes a last second pull to win Immunity for Nakum.

At Yaxha they are bummed out, but the scheming begins. Rafe tells us it was a rough challenge. Stephenie (pictured) says that this game makes her a big bag of nerves. Gary states that he wants to keep the tribe strong so they don't lose another challenge again. Amy tells Stephenie that the men are thinking of voting her off. Stephenie is mad , she tells us that she's not leaving, she's the strongest woman in the tribe.

Brian asks Gary if he was in the NFL (Danni told Brian sometime during the immunity challenge). Gary denies it, following his plan.

The tribe seems to settle on voting off Morgan or Lydia. Brian clues Lydia in and she has a heart to heart with Gary and says that she contributes, can endure anything and is not ready to home yet.

Jeff Probst: Let's catch up a little. Stephenie how has your welcome been?
Stephenie: They have been very welcoming I feel like we're a tribe.
Jaime: She knows the game well, she's tough, more like a boy.
Jeff Probst: Lydia you would seem the least equipped physically to compete.
Lydia: I have what it takes to endure.
Jeff Probst: Morgan I'm really picking up a vibe of unity.
Morgan: Yes we're unified because we're honest with each other.
Jeff Probst: Rafe what are you basing your vote on?
Rafe: Keeping the tribe unified. Someone has to go, hopefully we can get over it and move on.

Predictions
I think the unsympathetic one is Brandon. He was kind of unsympathetic last week towards Bobby Jon when he was sick so I see it continuing. Some others say it will be Judd after his outburst at Tribal Council last week.

RealityTVworld is predicting that Yaxha win Reward and Nakum win Immunity. They also predict that Amy will be voted off. Blake is believed to be a red herring. The episode's title, Man Down, is a term sometimes used by police officers and Amy is a cop.

If Bobby Jon (or Stephenie) wins the million dollars then this is a real stupid bunch. He may last until the merge, but once it becomes individual immunity he should become a prime target. The Rafe quote is cited as evidence that Gary wins, but taken out of context it could mean Rafe wins. Of the remaining quotes, Cindy's is most credible. She's a zoo keeper and the race horse analogy is especially appropiate.

Richard Hatch Update
The first Survivor winner, Richard Hatch, is still having tax problems. He was in court again recently facing charges of filing false tax returns in 2000 and 2001 by omitting income. Hatch is also accused of misusing (keeping for himself) $36,500 donated to a charity of his (Horizon Bound). Richard denies all charges and maintains his innocence.

If convicted of all charges he faces a maximum 75 years in prison and millions of dollars in fines. (I wonder if he could survive that?)

Second Thoughts and Sudden Thoughts About Survivor

In general I liked the start of Survivor and I look forward to another interesting season. Reportedly they really work a lot of the Guatemalan and Mayan culture into the season which I enjoy. I prefer a two hour first episode, I think it gives more time to get to know the new players.

Stephenie & Bobby Jon
Should Stephenie and Bobby Jon have been given a second chance by being allowed to compete again on Survivor Guatemala? I don't think that it's right, they had their chance already. I like them both, especially Miss Stephenie (as Bobby Jon calls her), but it's unfair to the others. Yes, I know the two of them are obvious targets but their experience gives them an edge that the others just don't have. I think this was just a play for higher ratings which may have backfired (see below).

Ratings Down
The TV ratings for the first episode were supposedly the lowest in years. Why? Some people believe it has something to do with Hurricane Katrina. With a real tragedy, viewers don't want to see anyone pretend to be surviving when so many people are trying to survive for real. Also President Bush addressed the nation the same evening as the first episode which may have affected some viewers, although here (Philadelphia) it was on in its normal 8:00 p.m. time slot.

Other possible factors: Starting Early, most shows premier this week but Survivor premiered last week. Stephenie and Bobby Jon, this was a badly kept secret and I wonder if a lot of fans were turned off by this obvious ratings grab. Lack of Diversity, there has been some attention to the fact that there are no people of color on Survivor Guatemala (I guess Lydia, a Puerto Rican, doesn't count). Also it seems the contestants get younger each season and there are too many aspiring actors and models.

Gary's Secret Past
Gary Hogeboom was a quarterback in the NFL and he wishes to keep that a secret from the others. However Jeff Probst said in an interview that Danni recognized him (she is a sports journalist). How this plays out could be interesting. Does she confront him with it? Do the others believe his planned lie? "No, you're mistaken. I'm Gary Hawkens a land developer."

Survivor Live - What Gives?
On Friday the webcast of Survivor Live, the internet talk show, was un-viewable. The video stream was choppy and then just stopped altogether. I watched in previous seasons without this much trouble. And to make matters worse it's still not available on the web site (in previous years you could watch repeats online).

No time was wasted in starting Survivor Guatemala. The Survivors were already divided into two tribes and Bobby Jon and Stephenie descended from heaven (a Mayan pyramid) to each join a tribe.

Reward Challenge
Competition: 11 mile race through thick jungle
Reward: the better camp & fire

The race was a marathon. They started in daylight and spent a night in the jungle before getting to the finish line the next day.

Jim took charge of Nakum and led the way. Gary (left) led Yaxha. Rafe is happy to let Gary be leader. Along the way the men of Nakum had a rough time. Blake fell and got thorns in his shoulder. He then became dehydrated. Bobby Jon also became dehydrated. They both vomited and Margaret (a nurse) helps them the best she can. Judd: "Eleven miles through a jungle is insane. I'm a doorman in New York; I've never even been camping." Gary, the former NFL quarterback, said that he won't tell them about his pro football background (smart move). He'll lie if necessary, he's Gary Hawkins (not Hogeboom) and a landscaper.

Nakum was first to the canoes but just a little ahead of Yaxha. Nakum's lead held up and they won Reward. Yaxha then had more paddling to do to get to their camp. Stephenie said it was one of the most physically demanding challenges in Survivor ever. She likes her tribe, they have heart and determination. Rafe also likes their spirit.

Judd got a touch of dehydration too. Bobby Jon was really bad, his eyes were rolling back in his head. Later he said that Survivor Palau was "recess" compared with Guatemala. However they are all game for the Immunity Challenge.

Immunity Challenge
Competition: boat race - lake & land

To start each tribe had to paddle their boat out into the lake to pick up a torch and then return to the beach. Next they had to drag their boat a 100 yard (meters) or so on land. Five members pulled a rope attached to the front of the boat while the others kept logs (used as rollers) in front of the boat. They then had to light their torch to win Immunity.

This was a close race. each tribe had a member or two get caught under the logs. Nakum had a slight lead but then lost it and the challenge to Yaxha.

Yaxha win Immunity and fire.

Jim was injured in the Immunity Challenge. He said he "snapped" his left biceps muscle (it sounds like he pulled or tore it bad) pulling on the rope (he thought they were all going to pull, but he was the only one to yank it). In private Brooke (left) says the women feel that a man should be voted off since none of the women have been dehydrated. Brandon doubts half of his tribe will make it, he's really concerned about Blake.

Jeff Probst: Tribal council is here at an ancient Mayan ruin. Fire is life on Survivor. It was very tough start this time.
Blake: Don't I know it.
Bobby Jon: I don't like getting beat so early. (Shouldn't Palau have prepared him for losing?)
Jeff P: Isn't it ironic that your strong men get sick?
Danni: In general I think women have better endurance than men. The men tried hard early. (She seemed to imply that the men got sick by working hard - nice move.)
Jeff P: Judd are any of the men worried?
Judd: Hey! I was only sick for about an hour I could do back flips now - wanna see! (bad move)
Jeff P: Woa calm down, Judd.
Jim (arm in sling) tells how he hurt his arm during the Immunity Challenge.
Margaret: We're all worried about how we can get healthy and do our best.

Time to Vote: only five votes are shown and they're all for Jim. In his final words, Jim says that he doesn't blame them and he hopes that no one gets hurt.

Alliances
Too early to tell. However I could see Blake voted off next if Nakum go back to Tribal Council next week.

Heroes and Villains
Everyone seems nice enough. I bet Nakum were glad they had Margaret, a nurse, with them. However Brandon called Bobby Jon "dumb" in private, which I didn't think was a nice thing to do.

Reports are that Survivor Guatemala starts off with a long hike and along the way several Survivors suffer scrapes and bruises. Blake, if I remember correctly, picks thorns out of his shoulder. Jim, the oldest contestant, supposedly has such a tough time that he vomits. Some people online are predicting that Jim will be voted off first.

The Survivors will be split into two tribes - nothing new there. So, what's the big surprise? Apparently it has to do with Stephenie and Bobby Jon from Survivor Palau. Most people believe they will be competing as regular Survivors on Survivor Guatemala.

Desire (D), someone with a real desire to win has a better shot of winning. Most say they want to win but few really, really need to win. Self Awareness (S), players who know themselves and are aware of how they are perceived by others have a better chance of winning. Judging Others (J), to do well Survivors must be able to see through others. Physical Ability (P), strength, stamina, swimming, running and hand-eye coordination are also very important. (I don't include intelligence, because it rarely seems to be factor in Survivor.)

I've studied the Survivors and crunched the numbers and here's my ranking from most likely to win to least likely to win:

Survivor Guatemala, the eleventh edition of the popular reality series, starts this Thursday at 8:00 p.m. ET / PT.

While you were out . . .
If you have been out of the Survivor-loop since Survivor Palau, here's a quick recap of what happened this summer.

Survivor Guatemala was shot from June to early August in Yaxha, northeastern Guatemala near the Belize border. The Survivors lived amongst ancient Mayan ruins. Reports are that it was very demanding physically for the contestants. More about Guatemala: About Guatemala , more about the Mayans: Civilization of the Mayans .

The Survivor's who are getting the early attention are Gary, a former NFL quarterback, and Danni, a former beauty contestant and sports talk show host. Several online betting sites make one of these two the favorite to win it all. For my preview of the cast check out Cast Revealed! .

The Big Rumor
The big rumor of the summer is that Stephenie and Bobby Jon from Survivor Palau will be involved in some way with Survivor Guatemala. It looks like this rumor will turn out to be true.

In other Survivor news
Tom Westman, winner of Survivor Palau, did a cameo on Bold and the Beautiful (he played a fireman) and became a spokesperson for Caribbean Joe, a clothing manufacturer. Katie Gallagher, also from Survivor Palau, was arrested earlier this month for DUI in her hometown of Modesto, CA. Richard Hatch, winner of the first Survivor, is still in tax trouble for failing to report his winnings. He was in court again recently.

Outdoor Life Network is airing past seasons of Survivor. They are currently showing Survivor Africa. Also several former Survivors are on Battle of the Network Reality Stars on Bravo. Kill Reality, on E! Entertainment, follows the making of a horror movie using just former reality stars as actors, several former Survivors are involved.

What's next?
Tuesday. I'll handicap the Survivors and tell you which players I think have the best chance of winning the 1 million dollars.

Thursday. After the first episode airs, I'll post my review (usually it's posted 2-3 hours after the show ends on the east coast).

On the Outdoor Life Network (OLN) the second season of Survivor is finishing up and they'll soon start the third season - Survivor Africa. Here are a few of the Africa Survivors to jog your memory: Ethan (professional soccer player), Big Tom (goat and cattle farmer from Virginia) and Lex (heavily tattooed).
